"Hold on." A deep voice said behind me. That same someone grabbed my shoulder, holding me back. I looked over my shoulder at the puny human who thought he could touch me, with annoyance. It was the same officer...
"What?" I snapped. "Don't touch me." I flicked his meaty fingers off my shoulder but stood still anyway. I wanted to see what he would say, or do.
"I think we should let everyone else go out first. You don't have anywhere important to be, right?" He asked.
"What if I do?" I questioned back. "But, even if I was a lousy, wandering member of society, doesn't mean I would wait around for these...these cattle to stupidly stumble out. They're too slow and I'm not patient."
"Well, too bad for you then." The officer rightfully said.
"Huh. Too bad for me..." I trailed off. "You're right. Too bad for me. Because now I'll have to spend the next twelve seconds of my life pummelling you to death."
"Excuse me?" He asked, an eyebrow raised. "Should I be worried?"
"I think you should be very worried." I replied, leaning in to intimidate him. It worked. I could see the hesitant flicker of wariness in his dull eyes. "I'm not in a good mood - but even if I was, I would still want to bury you deep in the ground."
"You can't talk like this to your elders. Especially not to an officer." He replied, his voice stern.
"You aren't my anything. And you certainly don't police me either." I said back, knowing I sounded like a overprivileged brat. And I was exactly that.
"Well, guess what kid? I do police you because see here -" he pointed at his badge - "I help run this town. And you live in this town."
"I don't do anything you -" I began but was cut off when I heard the two glass doors being shut. I turned my glare away from the goody police officer and directed it at the two girls - baptized bottle blonde, and her coworker - who were locking them and pulling the metal protection door down behind the doors.
"So no one can see." The coworker - a brunette with a natural obnoxious look on her face - sneered.
"And so no one get out." The cute blonde said, staring directly at me.
"What? Is this a surprise birthday party or something?" I asked, looking around the now dim and empty store. It was only me, the officer, the blonde and a few of her coworkers. They all had one thing in common with each other: they all stared at me with fuelled anger and hatred in their eyes.
"Good." I said as I looked each of them in the eyes. Most of them stood behind the counter, others behind tables. They all had something in their hands now.
"You don't know us? Remember us, at least?" The officer in front of me growled out.
"No. I'm a busy guy, what can I say?" I replied nonchalantly. "But...you. I know you."
"I know you do. I was a prisoner in my own body when we first met - thanks to you." He replied, his teeth grinding. I smiled up at him and turned all around looking at the faces of the people who thought they could keep me caged.
"Oh...now I know who you all are." I said, my smile widening until it hurt. "Hunters. With a vengeance."
"Bingo, buster." The brunette sneered. I winked at her and turned away satisfied when I saw her face contort into a look of confusion.
"Well, I'm sorry to break this to you all, but..."
"But what?" The officer snapped, taking a step toward me.
"But you're all going to go splat on the walls." I replied, looking at my fingernails as if they were all boring me. But they weren't. They didn't know how much fun I was having; how much power and fun they were giving me.
"Ugh..." I heard the brunette mutter in disgust from behind me.
"I know." I replied to her. "Maybe I'll leave you alive to clean it all up too." I stopped examining my fingernails - one of them had a crack in it - and looked up at the fuming officer in front of me through my eyelashes. "And you know what else?"
"What?" He said through gritted teeth.
"That you have no idea how powerful I really am. You have no idea what I am capable of - but I guess you will in a few seconds." I said quietly, my voice lowering down to a threatening, wicked octave.
"We are Hunters. We are built and made to destroy filth like you." He said, staring down at me with daggers in his eyes. I grinned suddenly, the flash of my teeth and eyes reflecting in his eyes.
"And I was created to rain destruction and death upon humans like you. Plus," I added carelessly, "I was created by the one thing you all fear: the Devil himself."
"And we were created by the one thing you fear." The little blonde piped up. "Goodness. Light. God."
I laughed suddenly, taking every Hunter in the store aback. My head was thrown back and my eyes were shut tight as they began to tear up a little. After a few tense moments of my mad laughter, I calmed down. I turned around on my heels, not taking care to even be a little alert of the bulky officer who stood right behind me, as I stared at the blonde.
"Let's see if your 'God' will help you now." I replied, my voice thick with insanity and wickedness and everything evil and impure in the world. "Come play with the Prince of Hell, angel."
