Let The Light Guide The Way

Chapter Two

The stray mewled,looking around the strange streets,where he has never gone before.Too petrified to come out of the shadows,he hides,watching strangers walk passed.But even he is aware of the creatures that can lurk in the darkness.So every time he hears movement behind him,he hisses,standing up and his ears flatten against his head.

This little neko is called Nico,who is scared of almost everything.The dark,his own shadow,loud noises,humans.But sometimes,he needs to face his fears,trying to forget the fact that his heart is beating fast and his palms sweat.His eyes widen,peering into the darkness.Nothing.Nico takes a deep breath,stepping out into the street light.His eyes thin a little as he pulls his sleeves over his hands.He sorts out the beanie on his head,his tail swaying behind him.Unknown strangers walk passed him,someone them throwing glances in his direction.Well,it does look odd when some one all dressed in white is stood under a street lamp,a fluffy tail attached to them.Plus the nervous and scared look on his face concerns a few people.

BANG!!Nico jumps,clutching at his sleeves tighter.It sounds as if the unknown sound,like a gunshot,was heard underground.The first thing he thinks is;Demons.He turns to the side,going into a steady jog,his heart beating fast.BANG!!That same sound again.He  breaks from the jog into a sprint.The people around him,which there isn't many off because it's so late,complain when he pushes passed them,whipping a few people by accident with his tail.Nico glances behind him.

Nothing.He slows down,knowing that nothing is chasing him,panting slightly.He eventually stops,pushing his frosted white hair out of his eyes,his eager silver eyes looking around.Nico furrows his eyebrows,pressing his lips into a thin line.Maybe it was his imagination?He shakes his head.It probably was.People always made fun of  him because of his over imaginative imagination. BANG!!here it is again,he starts to wonder if its real.Other people jump and it sinks in,making his shake a little.What ever it is,is real.He looks down,looking at a gutter.

Nico gasps a little when a blue figure ran passed.This made him curious,ignoring the old saying 'Curiosity killed the cat'.He looks around,seeing that the holographic fountain had been turned off,so the street was a little darker,and that also means that it is late.Maybe its the EFPF (European Federal Police Force).....But they don't wear blue uniforms.They wear grey....Nico looks down again and hears someone mumbling something.He meows.

Thud!Thud!Thud!Thud!Now it sounds like footstep coming from the sewer.Suddenly,a face pops up at the grate,making him jump and hiss."Hi...Sorry for scaring you...Can you open the grate for me?"The stranger asks,looking back at something and then up.He has black hair and brown eyes.Nico looks around before crouching down and covers up a small projector,which made the solid hologram grate.It fizzes and disappears.The stranger climbs out,making the neko stand back up and hold his tail in his hands."A....Are you a demon?"He asks,his voice full of fear.The young man looks at him,holding an ILS in his hand,his other hand reaching into his pocket and pulling out a badge.

"No.I'm part of the UCEFPF (Under Cover European Federal Police Force).I'm in the department called Lesterade. That means that because of my training,my job is to hunt down demons....My names Yui-Chan....You?"The man,now named Yui-Chan, explains,putting the laser in the gun holder.Nico studies the ID badge.He stays quiet as Yui-Chan puts it back in his pocket,looking at his watch.A holographic map comes up and he keeps swiping,looking for white dots on the screen."My n...name is Nico.....What are those white d..dots?"Nico asks curiously.

"Demons"The police officer simply told the neko."We are able to track them down because of the difference in the things they breathe out.Therefore we get these dots every time a demon breathes out."Nico nods,not fully understanding but not wanting to look like an idiot.Yui-Chan scans the younger man,noticing the tail and his snow white eyes.Small silver freckles across Nico's nose are barely visible,but their there.His pale skin is hidden by the shirt and pants he has on,plus his hair is hiding most of his face.He is just a little smaller then Yui-Chan but his shoes make him the same size.

He snaps out of the gaze and looks at the neko."Would you ever fight demons?Rid the Earth of them?"Nico clicks his tongue,looking at Yui-Chan as he speaks.He shrugs."I don't know.I'll probably be scared all the time."He answers,making the older man smile slightly."Everyone gets scared at one point,even the EFPF...We really need more officers on the force...I was scared at first...What do you say?"Yui-Chan smiles,sorting out his ebony hair.The neko looks around,playing with the beanie on his head.

"Urrrrrmmm...Sure.I'll join you.Just as long as I don't die".....
