Chapter 4

Fiona's POV

Elizabeth was holding Kara, both of them in tears.

I started smiling like an idiot and glanced over to see Ms. Janice with a few tears falling down her face.

Elizabeth glanced up at me and smiled while playing with Kara's hair, trying to calm her down. It is a very traumatic time for everyone right now.

Elizabeth's POV

when I ran out of the lawyer's office I immediately started crying. I cannot believe any of this. I know it is awful to say, but I hate Kara right now.

Do I really hate her, or am I just upset?

I do not even know right now. I had to stop running and sit down on a bench because I had too much going on in my head right now. I buried my face in my hands and sobbed. A few seconds later, I felt a pair of small hands on my knee.

"Aleesa, are you sad?" I looked up to see Kara staring up at me with a sad look on her face. Without thinking, I picked her up and sat her in my lap.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and laid her head on my shoulder. I heard her start crying and realized how selfish I had been lately. I mean, yes, I lost my brother, but Kara lost her mom and dad. She must be feeling sad too.

I could not help but smile as I held Kara, I started running my fingers through her hair in an effort to calm her down. I heard a gasp and glanced up to see Fiona standing next to my mom who was crying. Fiona had the biggest smile on her face. I realized why and smiled back at her.

I don't hate Kara. I love this little girl more than anything in the world and I would do anything to protect her.

I stood up and walked back into the lawyer's office with Kara still in my arms. Fi and my mom were following close behind us. When we got back in there, he looked up at me and smiled.

"We are done now. You are free to go." he stood and shook all of our hands as we thanked him for his time before we turned to walk out to leave.

As we were walking, Kara rose up in my arms to look at me and said in a sweet and soft voice, "are you my mommy now?"

I couldn't help myself. I started crying softly as I turned to my mom and Fi to see if they had heard what she said.

The expressions on their faces said that they had heard. We were all standing in the middle of this big building, tears streaming down our cheeks with shocked expressions plastered on our faces.

My life is about to completely change, I can feel it now!

I know it's a really short chapter, but I promise this story is going to become a whole lot more interesting after this! Brace yourselves and get ready for the roller coaster ride your emotions are going to experience!

I love people sharing their ideas with me, I actually do consider them! Oh later in the story the characters will be playing games like: truth-or-dare, never have I ever, and drinking games.
