Once apon a time, there was a boy- Avery, who, with alot of help from his bestfriend (hes not even joking, His bestfriend did basically everything), Derek, banished an eldritch deity- let me read you the story, dear reader

Avery paced around his room, he hadn't heard nor seen his bestfriend Derek for over three days now

It might not seem weird, but when you account that Derek is the same guy who's been sent home from school due to being sick, and kept coming back the next day- it surely was odd

He let out a long sigh, padding out of his room

Just before he passed the kitchen, he heard the sound of weeping from inside the kitchen

From that alone Avery could tell his mother was probably drowing in grief over a glass of wine, for the third time this month

His mother didn't take his father's death well, resorting to drinking, Avery knew she was trying her best to cope, so he really didn't hold any grudges against her for doing so

He walked into the kitchen, wringing his hands together infront of him as he cleared his throat

His mother's head whipped up as she wiped her tears away

"Hey Avery, dear, what do you need?" She said, her words slurring together slightly

"Oh, nothing, I just wanted to let you know im going out for a bit" he murmurs, scrunching up the hem of his shirt as he looked away

Out of the corner of his eye he saw her nod and turn back to the counter

He took this as an opportunity to turn on his heel and walk toward the door

He stopped just before leaving to grab his shoes and put them on quickly

Derek lived a few houses down on the opposite side of his street, so it wasn't odd for Derek's mother, Mrs. Rose Goldsmith, to see him standing on her front porch

He knocked on the door, a muffled 'im coming!' Followed by footsteps sounded out afterwards

Derek's mother opened the door, her warm smile sending happiness radiating through his bones

"Hello Aves, what brings you here, young man" she asked, opening her arms to offer Avery a hug

"Oh, I just wanted to see if Derek was here, I haven't seen him in a bit" he said, gladly taking up the shorter woman's offer of a hug

"No, dear, i thought he was hanging around your place these past couple days?" She questioned, letting the boy go from her embrace

"Oh, he must've left home earlier and wondered into the forest to clear his head, im sorry for bothering you Miss, I'll go now" He answered, shuffling back a few feet
