From Nothing to Something

Introduction

At twenty-one years old, Jess thought she had most of her life figured out. She had freshly graduated from university, had plans for her future, and had been dating her boyfriend, Hardin, for three years. Their relationship had become such a normal part of her life that she rarely stopped to imagine what things would look like without him. As far as Jess was concerned, she was stepping into the next chapter of her life with everything exactly where it was supposed to be.

There was also one thing that had remained consistent throughout the years—her obsession with 5 Seconds of Summer. Jess had been a fan since the band first started, following every song, album, interview, and tour she possibly could. Out of all four members, Calum Hood had always been her favorite. She had spent years joking about how attractive he was and imagining what it would be like to meet him, but she never expected anything to actually come from it. He was Calum Hood. She was just Jess.

Calum was twenty-one and living a completely different life. Between sold-out shows, tour buses, screaming fans, and traveling from city to city with his best friends, relationships weren't exactly at the top of his priority list. He met hundreds of people while on tour, especially during meet-and-greets. Most interactions lasted only a few minutes before another fan stepped forward and the previous face became another memory lost somewhere along the road.

Then Jess stepped in front of him.

There was nothing extraordinary about the circumstances. She was simply a fan attending a concert with her best friend, Becca, and the two of them happened to have meet-and-greet passes for after the show. Jess expected a picture, maybe a quick conversation, and a memory she and Becca would talk about forever.

Calum expected the same thing.

Except when Jess walked away, he couldn't stop thinking about her.

What started as curiosity quickly became something Calum couldn't shake. After managing to find Jess on Snapchat and Instagram, he discovered something he definitely hadn't been expecting.

She had a boyfriend.

Not just some guy she'd recently started seeing, either. Jess and Hardin had been together for three years.

That should've been enough for Calum to back off.

Instead, staring at the pictures of Jess and Hardin together only made one thought settle firmly into his mind.

He wanted her.

Jess had gone to that concert believing she already knew exactly where her life was headed. Calum had walked into another meet-and-greet believing it would be just another night on tour.

Neither of them could've known that one innocent meeting was about to turn their lives completely upside down.

Because Jess may have walked into Calum's life belonging to someone else.

But Calum Hood had already decided he was going to change that.
