The Little Things

After that first hello, things slowly became different.

At first, I thought Lawrence was just someone I happened to meet through a random live. Someone I would talk to for a few days, maybe laugh with, and eventually forget.

But somehow, he stayed.

Our conversations became a routine.

Good morning messages became something I started waiting for. Late-night calls became something I looked forward to before going to sleep. Even the simplest "kumain ka na?" somehow felt different when it came from him.

He had a way of making ordinary days feel less ordinary.

Sometimes, we didn't even talk about anything important.

We would just stay on call, doing our own things.

"You're quiet," he would say.

"I'm just tired."

"Then sleep. I'll stay here."

And somehow, I believed him.

There was comfort in knowing someone was there—even from miles away.

We were far from each other, but he always found little ways to make the distance feel smaller.

He remembered the little things I told him.

My favorite things.

The things that annoyed me.

The random stories I would tell him at two in the morning.

And most importantly, he remembered how I felt.

Maybe that's what slowly made me fall.

Not because he promised me the world.

But because, in his own little ways, he made me feel like I mattered.

One night, while we were talking, he suddenly became quiet.

"Can I ask you something?"

"What?"

"Will you let me court you?"

I stared at my phone for a few seconds.

I didn't know what to say.

It was scary.

Because I knew that once I said yes, things wouldn't be as simple as before.

But there was also a part of me that wanted to know where this could go.

So I smiled.

"Okay."

That one word changed everything.

From strangers who met through a simple live...

to two people slowly becoming something more.

I didn't know where our story would take us.

I didn't know how far we'd go.

I didn't know that one day, the distance between us would mean more than just miles.

For now, though, I was happy.

And sometimes, that's enough.

At least...

that's what I thought.

To be continued.
