It's a story about what comes after the almosts—about certainties, moments that finally meant something, chances that were not missed, quiet choosing, hope held within a shared silence, and the woman who continued learning what love was, and what it could be.

I used to think that anything that kept me guessing must be worth solving.

I learned to call the cracks part of the architecture,

to mistake the shaking for butterflies,

the storms for proof that something was alive.

I thought love had to be an explosion

to prove it was burning.

I didn't know it could also be a sea—quiet enough to breathe beside,

deep enough to lose yourself in.

Then, somewhere between the leaving and the learning,

you arrived

without asking me to follow.

You did not bring thunder.

You brought an umbrella.

And I, who had grown accustomed to calling storms romantic,

did not know what to do with someone who simply made room for me beneath it.

You spoke in doors left unlocked,

in hands that did not disappear,

in the quiet arithmetic of staying.

There was no riddle hidden inside your kindness.

No breadcrumb trail leading somewhere I had to earn.

Just warmth.

Just a place at the table.

And perhaps that is why

I find myself choosing you—

not because you promised there would never be rain,

but because beside you, I no longer feel the need to call the rain a test.

I don't want a love I have to decipher anymore.

I want the kind I can recognize with my eyes open.

Not the fire that leaves me burning,

but the light that lets me see.

Not the love that keeps me wondering,

but the love that lets me stay.

And maybe, for the first time, I am learning that love doesn't have to shake the earth to move me.

Sometimes, it can simply feel like coming home
