The music hit before the doors even opened. Heavy bass, loud enough to ripple the drinks in their glasses.

Inside, everything glittered.

Crystal lights reflected on polished glass tables, expensive liquor laid out everywhere and loud and careless laughter cut through the air like a daily ritual.

At the centre of it all sat Gaotu.

One leg draped over the arm of a velvet couch, head tilted back, a lollipop caught lazily between his lips. Blue streaks ran through his hair, catching the light every time he moved. His designer shirt hung half-open. It was slightly wrinkled but he didn't pay it any mind. There were ten more just like it waiting.

There were three of them at the table, as usual.

Shaoyou, Linlin and him.

They all had a few things in common. They were both high ranked Omegas, both came from rich families and they shared similar beliefs and interests. They've been together since their freshman year in college.

"...and then he actually thought I'd apologize," Shaoyou was saying, already laughing at his own story.

Gaotu glanced at him, slow and unimpressed. "Did you?"

"Obviously not."

"As it should be."

Linlin nudged him, noticing that he has been zoning out a lot since they came, "You're in a mood tonight."

"I'm always in a mood."

"Yeah, but today it's worse."

Gaotu didn't reply. He leaned forward, took the half filled glass and downed the content in one go. He just felt tired since he hasn't been getting enough sleep these days.

The night dragged on in that same careless rhythm. Drinks refilled, conversations overlapping, people drifting in and out. Then, like clockwork, the mood shifted.

It started with a shadow falling over their table.

Shaoyou noticed first, his expression tightening. "Here we go."

Gaotu didn't even look up right away. He already knew.

Alphas.

A group of them had wandered over. Three, maybe four. Tall, annoyingly loud, carrying that same heavy presence that always came with them. The kind that didn't ask for space, just took it.

One of them leaned a hand on the back of the couch, too close for anyone's liking.

"Well, well," he said, eyes sweeping over the table before settling on Gaotu. "Didn't expect to see this kind of lineup here."

Shaoyou clicked his tongue softly. "Just keep walking."

The alpha ignored him completely.

His attention stayed on Gaotu, like he'd already decided who his target was.

Gaotu finally looked up, slow and unbothered. His gaze ran over the guy once, top to bottom, like he was assessing something inconvenient.

Then he leaned back again.

"The table's full," he said. "Try your luck somewhere else."

For a second, the intruders were dumbfounded. Clearly not expecting such a blunt dismissal.

Then one of the other alphas laughed, low and amused. "You've got a mouth on you."

"You don't?"

Linlin muttered under his breath, "and you've got legs. Use them."
