LARA'S POV
The first thing I heard when I woke up was Megan laughing.
Not talking.
Not whispering.
Full-on laughing.
I opened one eye and stared at the ceiling.
It was way too early for this.
I pulled my blanket over my head, hoping she'd eventually stop.
She didn't.
"Lara."
I ignored her.
"Lara."
Nothing.
"Lara, I know you're awake."
I slowly pulled the blanket down.
Megan was sitting on her bed, already dressed, looking at me with the most annoying smile I'd ever seen.
"What?"
"You've been awake for like five minutes."
"No, I haven't."
"You literally just answered me."
I rolled over, facing the wall.
"I'm going back to sleep."
"You can't."
"Watch me."
She laughed again.
I grabbed my pillow and threw it in her direction.
It missed.
Of course it did.
Megan picked it up and threw it back.
"Get up."
"Why?"
"Because we're leaving soon."
I groaned.
"How soon?"
She checked her phone.
"Thirty minutes."
I sat up immediately.
"THIRTY?"
Megan started laughing again.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you."
I looked around the room.
My clothes from yesterday were still on the floor. My charger was somehow halfway underneath my bed, and there was an empty water bottle sitting on my nightstand.
Typical.
I grabbed my phone.
The group chat already had messages.
Dani: who's ready
Sophia: I've been ready.
Yoonchae: same 😭
Dani: liar
I smiled at the screen.
Then another message appeared.
Manon: where is everyone
I stared at her name for a second before locking my phone.
I didn't know why.
It wasn't like it meant anything.
Manon was just asking where everyone was.
I got out of bed and started looking for something to wear.
