Marcus  POV

"Move."

I looked up from my locker and immediately regretted it.

Miguel Porter.

Of course.

Out of every person in this entire school, it had to be him standing in front of my locker with that stupid little smirk on his face.

I shut my locker harder than necessary.

"You got a problem?"

Miguel shrugged. "Nope."

"Then move."

"Why?"

"Because you're standing in my way."

He looked down at himself, then back at me.

"I don't see your name on the floor."

I rolled my eyes.

This was exactly why I couldn't stand him.

Miguel was always calm. Always smiling. Always acting like nothing in the world bothered him.

And somehow, that made me want to bother him even more.

"You think you're funny?"

"I know I am."

"Man, get out my face."

Miguel laughed under his breath.

"See, that's what I mean."

"What?"

"You get mad way too easily."

I stepped closer.

"And you talk way too much."

For a second, neither of us said anything.

Then Miguel's smirk got even bigger.

"Practice after school?"

"You already know."

"Good."

He started walking away.

I frowned.

"Good for what?"

Miguel glanced over his shoulder.

"So I can beat you again."

I stared at him.

"You haven't beaten me."

He laughed.

"Keep telling yourself that, Marcus."

I watched him walk away before shaking my head.

That boy was seriously annoying.

And one day, I was going to shut him up.

Miguel  POV

Marcus thought he was intimidating.

That was the funny part.

Everyone else seemed to think Marcus William was impossible to beat. On the football field, in a fight, in anything competitive—he always had something to prove.

But I knew exactly how to get under his skin.

All I had to do was smile.

And apparently, I was really good at it.

I glanced back toward him.

He was still standing by his locker, staring at me like he wanted to fight.

I smiled.

Yeah.

Practice was going to be fun.
