The Los Angeles skyline shimmered beneath the afternoon sun, its glass towers reflecting streaks of gold across the city.

From the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Kingston Group headquarters, Adrian Kingston stood with one hand in his pocket, silently watching the traffic crawl along Wilshire Boulevard.

Thirty-five years old.

Self-made billionaire.

Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Kingston Group.

Every business magazine in America had tried to tell his story. They called him the man who built an empire before forty.Investors admired him. Competitors feared him. The media chased him.

None of them knew the man behind the headlines.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts.

His executive assistant, Claire, stepped into his office.

"Mr. Kingston, your car is ready."

Adrian turned from the window and picked up his phone.

"Thank you, Claire."

She handed him a leather portfolio.

"The investors from Tokyo arrived twenty minutes ago. They're already at the Crystal Grand."

He nodded.

"I'll meet them there."

Five minutes later, the private elevator carried him to the underground executive garage.

A black Rolls-Royce Phantom waited beside three black Cadillac Escalades carrying his security detail.

James, the head of his security team, opened the rear passenger door.

"Good afternoon, sir."

"Afternoon, James."

The drive to the Crystal Grand Los Angeles took less than twenty minutes.

The five-star hotel rose above Sunset Boulevard like a modern palace of glass and marble. Luxury cars lined the entrance while valets welcomed arriving guests with practiced efficiency.

A polished gold plaque beside the revolving doors read:

THE CRYSTAL GRAND LOS ANGELES
A Kingston Hospitality Property

Adrian owned every square foot of it.

As soon as his car stopped beneath the entrance canopy, the hotel's general manager hurried outside.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Kingston."

"Good afternoon, David."

"The investors are waiting in the Skyline Boardroom. Lunch has been prepared afterward in the private restaurant."

"Excellent."

Employees greeted him warmly as he walked through the grand lobby.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Kingston."

"Welcome back, sir."

He acknowledged each greeting with a nod.

He never believed respect should only flow upward.

He knew the names of the doormen, the concierge supervisors, and even some of the housekeeping staff. They, in turn, respected him because he treated them like people, not invisible employees.

The lobby buzzed with quiet luxury.

Business executives discussed contracts over coffee.

A famous actress checked in with her assistant.
