And then, one night, he wandered into a lounge on the Lower East Side and heard Kawin Ratanakorn.
Kawin didn't just sing. His voice was smooth, effortless, magnetic in a way Stephen couldn't quite explain. It wasn't just music; it was something deeper, something that settled beneath Stephen's ribs and lingered long after the final note dissolved into silence.
