I am a fan of the headcanon that Marinette and Marc are cousins.
I personally headcanon that Marc's mother is Tom's (Marinette's dad) sister. That would mean that Roland was Marc's grandfather, and Gina would be his grandmother. In Bakerix (3x03), it is explained that Roland cut his son off over the person he married. Similarly, Roland cut his daughter, Marc's mother, off because she married a librarian, who he deemed to not have a real job that could sustain a family. On the other hand, Gina was travelling around the world for years, as shown in Befana (2x08). As such, Marc was not close with his grandparents, since the last time he saw Gina was when he was eight years old, and he never met Roland.
The main conflict of the oneshot was that Marc was anxious about visiting his grandparents. I had started writing it months ago.
However, as you may know, after Riginarazione (6x19) released... Roland died. I lost motivation to complete the oneshot afterwards.
I am someone who loves sticking to canon material, so, since Roland had died, I did not want to include him in the oneshot as if nothing had happened. If I changed the oneshot to not include Roland, the oneshot would become unrecognizable. So, I decided to publish the oneshot as it is.
I may write something else for Marcaniel to make up for it. What would you be interested in? I may consider it.
