The rain descended from the heavens like countless silver threads, veiling the bustling city beneath a curtain of mist.

Neon lights shimmered through the downpour, their colorful reflections scattering across the rain-soaked streets like shattered jade upon black silk. The endless stream of vehicles flowed through the avenues, their headlights piercing the darkness before vanishing into the restless night.

Beyond the city's brilliant skyline...

Far from the comforts of crowded streets and towering buildings...

Nestled among the emerald mountains stood the Southern Military Rescue Training Base.

Unlike ordinary military compounds, this place bore no grand ceremonial gates nor rows of polished armored vehicles displayed for admiration.

Instead...

Every brick, every road, every weather-beaten wall carried the silent marks of countless rescue operations.

A battered fire engine stood quietly beside a maintenance garage, its crimson paint faded by years of storms.

Several amphibious rescue vehicles rested beneath steel shelters, still caked with dried mud from the devastating floods of the previous summer.

On another side of the compound...

Military helicopters stood ready upon the landing field.

Their enormous rotors remained motionless for now, yet even in silence they radiated an imposing aura, like dormant dragons awaiting the command to soar into the heavens.

The rain beat steadily against the steel roofs.

Drip...

Drip...

Drip...

The familiar rhythm echoed throughout the base.

Inside the main command building...

Bright white lights illuminated every corridor.

Officers moved briskly from room to room.

Television screens displayed satellite maps.

Weather forecasts.

Mountain terrain.

River levels.

Emergency evacuation routes.

Unlike ordinary military units, whose enemies were armed opponents...

The adversaries of this brigade were floods.

Earthquakes.

Wildfires.

Landslides.

Collapsed buildings.

Nature itself.

For them...

Every mission was a race against death.

At precisely seven o'clock in the evening...

A sharp whistle shattered the tranquil rhythm of the rain.

"All rescue personnel!"

"Assembly in five minutes!"

The commanding voice reverberated throughout the compound.

Within moments...

Dormitory doors burst open one after another.

Dozens of soldiers hurried across the rain-slick courtyard.
