Freya
The moment the plane landed in Los Angeles, I couldn't stop smiling.
This was it.
At eighteen years old, I was finally in Hollywood.
I had spent years auditioning, hoping for one big chance, and somehow, I had landed the lead role in a movie everyone was already talking about. It still didn't feel real.
As I made my way through LAX, I dragged three oversized suitcases behind me while balancing an iced coffee in one hand.
My phone rang.
Mum.
I smiled before answering.
"Hi, Mum."
"Oh, thank goodness. You landed!"
"I did. I'm just leaving the airport."
"Are you sure you'll be alright on your own?"
"Mum," I laughed softly. "I'll be staying at the hotel with the rest of the cast. The studio booked everything."
"I know, sweetheart... I just worry."
"I'll be fine. I'll text you as soon as I get to the hotel."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
She sighed.
"I love you."
"I love you too. Talk to you later."
After hanging up, I slipped my phone back into my bag and took another sip of my iced coffee.
Los Angeles.
I was actually here.
I barely made it another few steps before my foot caught on something.
"Fu-"
My balance disappeared.
The coffee flew straight out of my hand.
Ice cubes scattered across the floor, and the entire drink splashed onto someone's perfectly white T-shirt.
"Oh my God," I blurted out.
The guy standing in front of me looked down at his soaked shirt before slowly lifting his eyes to mine.
He looked about my age. Tall. Dark messy hair. Sharp jawline.
Ridiculously handsome.
Unfortunately, he opened his mouth.
"Seriously?" he snapped.
"I'm so sorry," I said quickly. "I tripped over your suitcase."
"My suitcase?" he scoffed. "Do you always walk around trying to burn people?"
I stared at him for a second before letting out a short laugh.
"It's an iced coffee."
He frowned.
"What?"
"It's iced coffee," I repeated. "You're not going to get burned, so stop being so dramatic."
His eyebrows shot up.
"So now you're making fun of me after ruining my shirt?"
"I said I was sorry. It was an accident."
"Maybe you should watch where you're going."
I crossed my arms.
"Maybe you shouldn't leave your suitcase sticking out where people can trip over it."
"It wasn't sticking out."
"It definitely was."
He shook his head.
"Unbelievable."
"I was literally about to say the same thing."
For a moment, neither of us said a word.
I hated admitting it, even to myself.
He was gorgeous.
But he was also the most arrogant person I'd ever met.
He sighed, grabbed the handle of his suitcase, and walked past me.
Just before disappearing into the crowd, he glanced over his shoulder.
"Take care of yourself, blondie."
Then he was gone.
I stood there, staring after him.
"Blondie?" I muttered under my breath.
What a jerk.
Rolling my eyes, I picked up my suitcases and headed toward the exit.
If there was one thing I knew for sure...
I never wanted to see that arrogant idiot again.
