College was 1 hour away. And it was the most annoying hour imaginable. Wake up early, walk 15 minutes, catch an overcrowded bus, get off, then walk another 5 minutes just to catch a second bus, then walk another 10 minutes. As i say, annoying. Especially when you've only got a 1 hour lecture to attend.
And today, I got into the bus again. Empty at the start, like always. But stop after stop, as per usual, crowds began to swarm in. And within 3 stops, the entire bus was full up. By the time of the 4th stop, people were standing. And that's when I saw her. A pregnant girl. She looked my own age, and she was standing. Nobody was offering their seats to her.

Obviously, I wasn't going to sit down and let her be forced to stand up. She was very pregnant. Like, not a little bump, massive. She looked like she could be due any day pretty much, and somehow, everybody decided collectively that their seats were more important.
I looked around for a sec, expecting somebody closer to her to get up. Nobody did, they just stared at their phones, or ignored her. Seriously messed up stuff. Something was wrong with everybody on that bus if not a single person was willing to offer a pregnant girl their seat.
So I stood up, and caught her attention. "Hey, you can sit here miss"
She looked at me, and then the seat, like she didn't expect anybody to offer. I smiled and gestured towards it.
"It's yours, i've only got a few stops left." That was a lie, there was a fair few left, but standing for 20 minutes wasn't exactly going to kill me.

She smiled, thanked me, and sat, and looked at me for a tiny while, whilst she sat into the seat.
"Thank you sweetie"
"No problem miss"
She carefully lowered herself onto the seat, hand supporting her belly as she sat. As soon as she got comfortable, she let out a small sigh of relief. Seeing that made me even more confused as to why everybody refused to get up.
"Sorry nobody stood up sooner for you" I said.
"Well, you did". She smiled sweetly. She looked at my hoodie more closely, studying it, reading the college logo. "You're a college boy? That's nice. Most boys our age aren't as considerate as you. "
