A way to break free

chapter 1 ~ basics

I put my school shoes back on and stood up and fixed up my shirt, gosh I hate sport it is so stupid I mean if they would just let me at least use some of my "talents" I would do fine but nooooo. It's unfair on the other students. I walked out of the girls change rooms and stopped when I saw my best friend Nevera. I walked up right behind her then I noticed what she was doing. ... "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

"Pffft I wasn't doin' anything sugar," said Nevera

"riiiiiiiiiigh," I said sarcastically, "anyways, where is everyone else?"

Nevera just shrugged and said, "I zunno, probably the library so I guess off to the library we go! C'mon Feara.

We were half way to the library when I remembered I wanted to show her something, "hay Nev I found out how to breath fire, waaaaaanna see?" I said smugly

"Is that even safe?" asked Nevera

I laughed out loud, "probably not. But I can control it here see?"

I coughed and a small spark escaped my mouth and I widened it, a huge burst of flames whirling out. I knew she was amazed and by the look on her face, it was pure childlike amazement.

I finally stopped 'cause I couldn't keep it up anymore. I grabbed Nev and dragged her to the library.

Throwing down our bags outside the library, we pulled our laptops out so if a teacher walks by us in the library, it would seem we are working instead of doing the opposite.

Every time I look at Nev, I see her past (though she won't tell me much of it I still know, it's one of my talents as a dragon I seem to have some telepathic connection to people I can't read their minds or anything but I sense their emotion and see fragments of their past, present, even sometimes future but when I do see their future its always abit fuzzy cause it could change at any moment) she seems to understand me better than most and I understand her, it's the beauty of our friendship we could be having a normal conversation but also a sort of telepathic one to like a conversation hidden in a conversation .

I hadn't realized she was talking to me until she drawled, "guuuuurl you ain't even listenin,"

"Huh what?" I stared at her blankly and she just laughed, "I was talking about the hot guy that lives next to me,"

looked at her a pulled a face and said in a sarcastic tone, "oh him... your one true mate? Or you've only come to that conclusion because you're high on catnip?"

" Yes him" she said in an annoyed tone, " are you okay? You seem ... distracted"

" Yeah im fine," I blatantly lied

"Fear tell me what's wrong," Nev urged.

"It's just Alec!" I blurted out, "I like him so much and the fact that I'm friend-zoned hurts so much. Plus, he's supposed to be my best friend but he keeps showing me why I shouldn't be his friend!

" yeah, well, we all know he's a jerk like that," Nevera rolled her eyes.

" you know he likes you nev, he keeps falling for my best friends and not me as," I sighed and tapped my fingers against my laptop case. "I said he's a jerk," huffed Nevera

Spotting Alec, I blushed furiously but then Nevera walked up to him and hissed I jogged up to her and sighed,

"Nev, you're so catty,"

"I can't help it if he makes my tail twitch," ( by this point I should mention Nevera is a cat. She can turn into one and communicate with them it's really cool) I just laughed and we went to sit with Ren and Lejla and Elfija . Ren is a cat like Nevera but with a twist. She's is a Indian tiger and Lejla is a phoenix (on account of her bright red hair) and Elfija is a fox (though she's not cunning and defiantly no trickster)

The day went on its boring slow dreary track but I like it that way.

When I got home, I slept till I smelt dinner then ate and played on my laptop then had a shower that always seems to just clears me, I feel awake and cause the boiling water doesn't affect my skin no matter what form I'm in.

I turn the water to the hottest and just soak in the warmth and steam (the heat always makes me feel better but I'd rather hang out in freezing places so when I do get heat I cherish it) then I turn the water off and watch the stream roll around the walls of the bathroom, breathing in deeply I walk back to my room a fall asleep feeling anew for a short while.
