The wind whispered through the towering pines of northern Ashenvale, carrying with it the scent of damp earth, moss, and distant rain. Birds fell silent as shadows danced between the trees, and even the woodland creatures instinctively hid from the presence moving soundlessly through the forest.

A lone demon hunter.

Keket Dawnseeker moved like a ghost.

Her twin warglaives rested comfortably across her back, their emerald fel runes glowing faintly beneath the hood of her dark leather cloak. Long black hair, tied loosely behind her head, swayed with every step, while the iconic blindfold covering her eyes concealed the emerald glow that marked every Illidari. Though she appeared calm, every muscle in her body remained ready to spring into action.

Years of training beneath Illidan Stormrage had taught her that peace was often an illusion.

Silence, however...

Silence was honest.

The Legion was gone.

Sargeras had fallen.

Azeroth had begun healing.

Most heroes celebrated.

Keket simply accepted another contract.

That was how she preferred life.

No ceremonies.

No crowds.

No endless speeches from grateful villagers insisting she stay for dinner.

Just a destination.

A target.

Then the road again.

Several hundred miles away, songs echoed through taverns celebrating the exploits of the Dawnseekers.

Whirlwindz, the monk who had survived the Shadowlands.

Hiraeith, whose compassion inspired countless priests.

Mirinaz, the radiant shield of the Silver Hand.

Oz, who had risen above the curse of undeath.

Linstine...

The fearless twin.

Stories about Linstine seemed to spread faster than gryphons could fly. Depending on who was telling them, she'd either single-handedly defeated an entire Legion battalion or wrestled a fel reaver into submission.

Keket doubted either version.

Though...

She'd never asked.

Her twin enjoyed attention more than she ever admitted.

Keket avoided it whenever possible.

The arrangement suited them both.

Her latest assignment came from a small village nestled along Ashenvale's eastern border.

Hunters had vanished.

Livestock disappeared overnight.

Tracks led deep into the woods before ending abruptly.

The villagers believed a demon had returned.

Keket knew better.

Demons left cleaner evidence.

This felt...

Different.

She crouched beside an enormous footprint pressed into the mud.

Not fel.
