The crisp mountain air swept through the towering Murayamaki Mountains above Mount Fuji, carrying with it the ancient melody of shrine bells that echoed across the sacred peaks. Red maple leaves drifted lazily through the wind, settling upon weathered stone paths lined with moss-covered fox statues and towering cedar trees that had stood watch for countless generations. Morning mist clung to the mountainside, giving the Murayama Sacred Shrine an almost heavenly presence, as though the gods themselves still walked its hallowed grounds.

Then the peaceful silence shattered.

Clang!

Steel crashed against steel, sending a sharp metallic ring through the forest.

Princess Ida spun gracefully through the air, her movements so fluid they resembled a dance rather than combat. Though she appeared no older than nineteen, centuries of experience guided every motion. Her Double Crescent Blade flashed beneath the morning sun, carving brilliant silver arcs through the wind as she twisted overhead with impossible elegance.

The breeze itself seemed to answer her command, spiraling around the polished edges of her weapon.

Opposite her stood Yo'metu.

Wild.

Unpredictable.

Neither fully human nor fully monkey, he carried the untamed spirit of both. A mischievous grin spread across his face as he balanced effortlessly upon the flat of his Manji Sword before launching himself backward toward the towering cedar trees.

"Too slow!" he called with a laugh.

Ida narrowed her golden eyes.

With a sharp pivot of her heel, she surged forward.

Her twin blades sliced through the air like twin crescents beneath the morning sky.

Yo'metu sprang onto the branch of an ancient cedar, swung high above her strike, and flipped effortlessly over her head, laughing without the slightest hint of concern.

"Stay still for once!" Ida shouted.

"Where's the fun in that?"

He landed lightly atop a wooden shrine railing and stuck out his tongue with childlike triumph.

Ida released an impatient sigh.

A sudden gust erupted beneath her feet.

The ground cracked as she launched herself skyward, closing the distance between them in an instant.

Their weapons collided again with explosive force.

The clash echoed throughout the shrine as leaves spiraled into the air around them.

Far below, several royal servants hurried anxiously up the winding stone steps, searching frantically among the towering trees.

"There they are!"

One exhausted servant finally caught sight of the duel.

He stopped in his tracks.

His eyes widened.

Watching Princess Ida fight was almost hypnotic.

She moved less like a warrior and more like a living storm—swift, elegant, and terrifying all at once. Every strike flowed seamlessly into the next, each movement carrying the quiet confidence of someone who had mastered her craft long ago.

For a brief moment, the servant simply stared.

Only after collecting himself did he finally bow his head.
