The two-tailed fox's desperate cry is promptly covered by the sound of explosions. A myriad of grim fireworks rings in the sky, shedding a faint light on the city. Or what is left of it. Once imposing buildings and long roads are reduced to nothing but corpses of cement and ashes, barely illuminated by the energy flashes in the sky. The sun is entirely hidden from sight, replaced by the abhorrent view of the being responsible for all of this.
Above it all, above the ruins and the being, a golden hedgehog stands proud and smirks.
Just another day for Sonic The Hedgehog.
But behind his smile, for the first time in so long, the hedgehog was too tired to even catch his breath, exhaustion was getting to him, along with fear.
His friends and even his foes are all laying down there, too weakened by the endless fight that has been going on for days. Soon, Sonic's super form will run out, and he will suffer the same fate. Even his speed cannot outrun time.
But his determination is eternal.
« SONIC ! DON'T ! »
Looking back one last time at his friends with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes, the super powered hedgehog cannot shake the sadness knowing that his last adventure has come.
He who lived day by day was now faced with his last. And the last time he could ever look at all of the friends and ennemis he made. But if he has to go out, he might as well make it flashy.
What happens next is a blur, just like Sonic himself as he charges at full speed.
A green beam of light.
A dark deadly laser.
And two words.
Chaos Control.
The foe vanished in a flash, as if he never were present, leaving the sun shining once again at the cities' remains.
But as everyone looked up at the sky to greet back the one who once again saved them, one thing became clear as time passed by.
This was the last we saw of Sonic The Hedgehog.
