This is a one shot about Larry Johnson from sally face.
It takes place around the balgnoine incident
Hope you enjoy it and sorry for any inconsistencies as I haven't wrote in a while :]
🚩 t.w there will be drug usage and abandonment and a possible addiction mentioned in this chapter please skip if it bothers you ❤️

Smoke curled around Larry's head, obscuring his vision and clotting his nose with a thick scent. His hair fell in knotted, brown strands around his shoulders. Leaned back against his sofa he sprawled himself out, one foot dangling limply off one arm of the seat. All exterior noise was muffled in his little bubble in the basement. Sanity's Fall blasted in his ears, the bass splitting his mothers head open. Sharp raps came from the floor above him as his mother slammed her mop handle into the first story's flooring. Apparently Larry hadn't soundproofed it as well as he thought. He inwardly groaned, his voice carried barely audible above the music as he yelled something about turning it down or another placating sentence.

His body popped with every motion as he manoeuvred himself  up from the sofa he once sat. The walls were spinning and shifting with bursts of colour as he tried to find his footing on the churning ground. He often felt as though no matter how many times he had done this he would never get used to the feeling of standing up after a high. The ground seemed to vibrate. He desperately clung to the arm of the chair as the floor tilted for him. His fingers dug into the worn cushion of the sofa, piercing small crescent shapes with his nails. His feet didn't seem to cooperate as he forced himself upright, nearly taking another tumble. The smoke from earlier sat heavy above him like a weight on his shoulders he had been suppressing for far too long. Was the buzz ever really enough to block it out? He half mused to himself as he finally regained control of his feet and shuffle towards the stereo. Despite only being a few feet away it felt like a trek to him. The dancing colours and lights in his vision danced and laughed around him, the patterns were ever flowing and fluid. They jumped like water, their misshapen forms cascading across the room in beautiful rhythms. Soon enough it drew his mind away from his worldly woes that plagued his mind moments before. Euphoria settled deep in his bones, warming him to his core, forcing his lips to form a soft absent smile. With one shaking hand he reached forward and twisted his hand on the stereo to turn it down a smidgeon.

In his state, he was too far gone to realise the banging had stopped before he even reached the stereo or that his mother had calmly went back to mopping above him. He banged his head to the music but his movements were loose and he wasn't fully in control as he banged his head so hard the blood began rushing to it. All of a sudden he felt another dizzy spell approaching, it hit like a truck and he preemptively dropped himself to the floor and laid flat on his back. Larry stretched himself out like a starfish, palms up, legs parted as he stared at the ceiling blankly. He hadn't taken a hit in a little while and a small bit of clarity clouded his senses, drawing him from his wonderland. He couldn't even remember how long he had been like this.  He was no longer the bright eyed boy he was before his father left. Everyone had their coping methods and this was his.

..god he wished it wasn't.

He wished he had never found out Todd parents were suppliers, he wish he'd never taken his first hit, he wished more than anything however, that he never had to. That his dad was still around. He didn't even know what happened, he just left. It was cruel to him. That such a good man could leave a child for who knows what. Maybe he was happier now. That was what he hoped, that his father was somewhere nice, living in the Bahamas maybe. His dad was a good man, he knew that much. The first concert he ever went to was because of him, it was his music taste that shaped Larry's entire personality. Once, many years ago, he had went to a concert with his dad; he remembered it vividly.

The throng of the crowd was overwhelming in the best way possible, the music could slash through ear drums like ghost face could people. That was the highlight of his life, well, before sally at least. Sal fisher, the sibling he never had. He was a new face in town and frankly a little freaky but he loved him anyway. Sally face, as he was so loving called was the nicest man around. He wore his hair in two vibrantly blue pigtails, kinda like Miku.. ah, scratch that. He was the brother he had always wanted and since befriending him he had so many new opportunities and friends opened up to him, he had expanded his world and now he couldn't be happier. Nockfell was a sh*tty little city and had never really felt like home here in Addison apartments until he came along. Sal and him had been through the wringer together with all the paranormal (as sal put it) junk that was happening around here. Sal was his confidant. His brother in arms. His everything.

Dam, all this thinking about him made him wanna hear his voice. His eyes lit up as he remembered something. He picked up his walk-in talkie he had been given for his birthday and whispered into it in a voice far louder than he realised in his intoxicated state,

"Psssttttt! Sallyyyy faceeee!"

The words dragged on painfully as he let go of the calling button with a click. It took a second but after a moment a voice cracked through the speaker,

"Hiya, dude. You okay? You sound drunk."

A soft chuckle followed from Sally's end as he let go of the button. A goofy grin plastered itself across Larry's face as his eyes lit up in clouded joy. He pressed his face way to close to the mic and whispered,

"You picked up! I knew you would! I miss youuuuuu"

He whined out the last few words, completely shameless like this. No intelligent thoughts were left in his brain as he giggled and sing-songed into the mic. A soft sigh elicited sals lips as he pressed down on the outgoing button on his end again,

"Lar, are you high?"

Worry doused with subtle disappointment laced his tone as he spoke. No answer came except a giddy giggle from Larry's end.  Sal hung up. Clearly Larry was intoxicated and he wasn't gonna wait for him to sober up enough to answer. Placing his guitar to the side he stood up and tugged his black sweater over his head with a grunt. Quietly, he creaked open his door and tiptoed towards the exit to his apartment, his dad was still out cold from a hard day earlier and sal was intent not to wake him up. Closing the door with a soft creak he padded down the hallway to the elevator. He clicked the button for the basement and scanned his keycard with a soft beep. The rickety elevator began its descent to the lowest floor past were Mrs Johnson was now blissfully cleaning to his best friends room. As the door creaked open it revealed Larry laying on the floor in the same manner we found him before only now with his knees half bent up. Sal walked towards him slowly and once Larry noticed his arrival he pounced. He latched onto sals leg with all his remaining strength and buried his face in the fabric of his jeans like he was still a little boy when his dad was around. Sals face softened as he looked down at Larry and sat beside him. He sat cross legged on the floor and Larry followed suit, leaning heavily against sals side. They sat like that for a while, enjoying the music that still played quietly as sal adjusted his prosthetic to make sure it wouldn't slip. Larry let his head fall onto sals shoulder after a while, his brown hair tickling his neck as laid there with an exhausted sigh. The crash had made him feel sleepy, his eyelids hardly stayed open, fluttering with every second. They felt heavy and begging to close. After a second or so of balancing consciousness and sleep he finally gave in and mumbled earnestly, "love you, bro"
Sals heart swelled with brotherly affection as the words settled in, he hadn't felt this content in a long time. In a soft voice, careful not to wake him he replied,

"I love you too man."

They both sat like that, perfectly content in each other's company until sal drifted off too. His head rested gently against the top of Larry's. For once, both boys were free of their worries about their messed up little town and what could go wrong. For once, they were perfectly happy.

Fin.
