"Just keep a confident smile on your face and go for it," I said over the phone while placing the dumbbells back on the rack.

"I'll try...achha, what are you doing?" Sara asked.

"Umm...I'm in the gym," I replied, walking toward the pull-up bar.

"Ohhh...did I interrupt gym romance?" she teased.

I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up. Bye. I need to get ready. All the best."

Before she could throw another teasing line my way, I disconnected the call.

Keeping my phone aside, I jumped slightly to grip the pull-up bar.

The moment my fingers tightened around it, a sharp pain shot through my left wrist.

I immediately let go.

"Careful."
His footsteps came rushing toward me before I could even steady myself.

When did he come? He was sleeping.

I rubbed my wrist instinctively and took a step back.

He stopped only a foot away.
"You should be careful," he said, concern evident in his voice. "Abhi pair mein bhi chot lag sakti thi...you could've fallen."
He reached for my wrist.

I stepped back again.
"I'm fine." My eyes stayed fixed on my wrist. "I don't need anyone's help."

His hand froze midway.

"And it's not hurting anymore."

"But you-"

"I need to get ready."
I cut him off before he could finish and picked up my phone.

He called my name.
I didn't stop.
Why should I?

After all...
According to him, I wasn't his wife.

If he had remained distant from the beginning, maybe it wouldn't have mattered.

But he was the one who behaved like I am someone to him.

One moment he behaved as if he genuinely cared...and the very next, he reminded me I was nothing more than a stranger sharing his room.

He confused himself far more than he confused me.
Or maybe...
No.

I shook the thought away before it could grow.

Taking out my uniform, I walked into the bathroom.

When I returned after showering, he was already in the room.
