Killer's POV

People always say every queen has a beginning.

Hers started in Grade One.

We sat beside each other on the first day of elementary school. She was too shy to introduce herself, so I did it first. We became inseparable after that. We shared lunch, answered quizzes together, and promised we'd stay best friends forever.

Everyone loved her.

Teachers called her "the brightest student in class." Parents smiled whenever she walked by. Every recognition day, her name echoed through the gym as she collected medal after medal. Gold ribbons, certificates, trophies... she carried them home like they weighed nothing.

I clapped the loudest.

When we reached Grade Six, she became more than the academic achiever. She was chosen as Campus Beauty, the face of every school program, the student every teacher proudly introduced to visitors.

Perfect grades.

Perfect smile.

Perfect life.

And me?

I stood beside her in every picture, cropped out in everyone's memories.

People knew me as her best friend.

Not by my own name.

Whenever someone praised me, they always found a way to compare me to her.

"You're good... but she's extraordinary."

I laughed along.

I congratulated her.

I hugged her after every victory.

She never noticed that each celebration felt like another piece of me disappearing.

The funny thing is...

She never stole my dreams.

Everyone else simply handed them to her.

And I let them.

For years.

Until there was only one crown left to fight for.
