A/N: Seriously, I'm for the pain I've caused you guys yesterday. I couldn't help it... I needed to twist the story a bit. Here's another update!

Here's another heartbreaking update :(

Derek's POV

When you've lost more than you have gained, your mind tends to be more selfish. You tend to be more closed up, to never let anyone close. You begin to think about the worse case scenarios that could happen if you ever left yourself love someone so much that you could hardly breathe without them there by your side.

I couldn't protect Stiles. He was just there; smiling at me like I had done nothing wrong, like I didn't cause him pain.

And now, he's lying there, barely alive on a hospital bed.

"Derek, you have to sleep." John said as he gave Derek a cup of hot chocolate and take out of burgers and fries from the Stiles' favorite diner.

The man looked up and took the food offered to him and smiled weakly, "I should've been with him, John." He muttered as he watched Stiles' chest heave slowly up and down.

"Stop doing this to yourself, son. The whole department... we're all working hard to find those people responsible for the bombing." John reassured him as he walked towards Stiles and pressed a kiss on his forehead before exiting the room.

John was furious. He wanted the people who did that to his son found and punished.

He quickly fished out his phone from his pocket and hovered at Stiles' Grandpa's number.

He needed every help he could get even if he had to sacrifice everything.

Two Days later...

Derek's POV

Stiles still hasn't woken up; no signs. Period.

I could still remember seeing him on the ground. If I had gotten to him sooner then none of this would've happened to him.

He was by the door, body full of scrapes and bruises. He could barely breathe let alone speak. He was bleeding, he had burns over his arms and neck.

I remember the sounds of the siren and my voice hoarse from telling Stiles to stay awake and that help was on the way. I remember getting shot with a sedative because I couldn't bear the fact that Stiles was in that situation because of me. I remember that I took on two security guards because I couldn't calm down.

Everything was etched in to my memory and I can't erase that.

"You shouldn't beat yourself too hard, son."

I looked up and saw a man with gray hair in a pinstripe suit under a black coat and black fedora. My eyes widened at the sight of my Boss. Gregorz Kolikowski is right in front of me and his grandson is lying on a hospital bed because I couldn't protect him.

"Sir." I quickly stood up, back straight with my chest out as I stared at him straight in the eyes.

Gregorz quickly glanced at Stiles with a sad look on his face and said, "I remember my daughter being in this hospital... she looked so frail but she still defied me every step of the way. Her death anniversary is on Friday, did he tell you that?"

Derek nodded, "Yes, sir. He did... before the explosion."

"John has agreed to let me take over custody of Stiles after he wakes up." The man said as the memory of his daughter flooded his head; the look on her daughter's face when she said goodbye and the pain he had caused to her and her family.

"Sir, is that really necessary? Can't we just wait for Stiles to decide after he wakes up?" Derek voiced out but was met with a sharp stare and a laugh.

"You think John didn't thought of it carefully? He made the decision even before you came into this town. He knew the consequences of being married to my daughter. It was always the plan, Derek." Gregorz said before he kissed Stiles' forehead.

He walked to the door and took a quick glance at Derek, "I will do whatever it takes to protect that child, Derek."

And Derek stood there with shocked look on his face, his eyes never leaving the boy.

Everything has changed.
