The voice beneath the ruins

The world was quiet.

Not the peaceful kind of quiet that came with a warm sunrise or a calm evening breeze. This silence felt older—like the land itself was holding its breath, waiting for something that had been forgotten to return.

A young man opened his eyes.

Cold stone pressed against his back. Strange blue lights flickered across the walls around him, painting the ancient room with a soft glow. He didn't know where he was. He didn't know how he had gotten there.

And worst of all...

He didn't remember who he was.

Slowly, he pushed himself up. His body felt heavy, as if he had been asleep for years. The unfamiliar room stretched around him, filled with mysterious machines and symbols carved into the walls.

A strange voice echoed through the chamber.

"Wake... and remember."

The words were quiet, but they carried a feeling he couldn't explain. Like a distant memory calling out from somewhere far away.

The young man looked around.

"Who are you?" he whispered.

No answer came.

Only the sound of a glowing pedestal activating nearby.

On top of it rested a small device. Without knowing why, he reached for it. The moment his fingers touched the object, the room trembled, and the ancient walls seemed to come alive.

Images flashed through his mind.

A vast kingdom.

A great castle standing beneath dark clouds.

A princess with a determined look in her eyes.

A battle he couldn't remember.

A voice calling his name.

Then everything vanished.

He pulled his hand away, breathing heavily.

"What was that?"

The door ahead slowly opened, revealing bright sunlight pouring into the forgotten chamber.

For the first time in what felt like forever, he stepped outside.

The sight before him made him stop.

Mountains stretched into the distance. Green fields rolled beneath the sky. Birds flew above ancient ruins scattered across the land. It was beautiful... but something about it felt broken.

As he walked forward, he noticed signs of a world that had fallen apart. Old buildings were covered in vines. Forgotten weapons rested on the ground. The remains of a civilization that once seemed powerful were everywhere.

He didn't know it yet, but this land had a name.

Hyrule.

And it needed him.

As he reached the edge of a cliff, a strange feeling washed over him. Somewhere far away, something powerful was waiting.

Something dangerous.

A sudden voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey!"

He turned around quickly.

An old man stood nearby, leaning on a wooden stick. His beard was long, and his eyes watched carefully.

"You're finally awake," the old man said.

The young man stared at him.

"Do I know you?"

The old man smiled slightly.

"No. But I imagine you have many questions."

The young man looked back toward the endless land.

"Who am I?"

The old man's expression changed for a moment, as if he knew the answer but was waiting for him to discover it himself.

"That," he said, "is something you must find out."

The wind moved through the grass between them.

"But first," the old man continued, "you should learn what happened to this kingdom."

The young man looked at him.

"What happened?"

The old man turned toward the distant castle, where a dark storm surrounded the skies.

"Calamity has returned."

The words sent a strange chill through him.

Even without remembering his past, he knew one thing.

Whatever waited inside that darkness...

He was connected to it.

And somehow, he knew his journey had already begun.

To be continued...
