The city lights blurred past the windows as Jason drove with one hand on the wheel.

His other hand?

Locked with Sailor's.

She sat in the passenger seat wearing one of his hoodies over a pair of black biker shorts, her curly wig pulled into a messy ponytail. Her legs were tucked underneath her, and every few minutes she'd absentmindedly rub circles on the back of Jason's hand with her thumb.

He noticed every single time.

"You know..." Jason glanced over for half a second. "You don't gotta hold my hand the entire drive."

Sailor gasped dramatically.

"You want me to let go?"

"...No."

"You sure?"

"...No."

She giggled.

"I knew it."

Jason rolled his eyes.

"You talk too much."

"And you love every second of it."

"...Unfortunately."

She squeezed his hand tighter.

"Liar."

Their destination?

A botanical garden.

It had closed hours ago, but there was a little overlook nearby where you could still see the flowers lit up by tiny fairy lights.

Jason remembered Sailor mentioning it months ago.

Once.

That's all it took.

Because whenever Sailor casually mentioned wanting something...

Jason remembered.

Always.

When they arrived, Sailor stepped out of the car and immediately smiled.

"Oh my gosh..."

She practically skipped toward the fence overlooking the gardens.

"They look so pretty."

Jason didn't answer.

He wasn't looking at the flowers.

He was looking at her.

The way the lights reflected in her eyes.

The way she smiled so genuinely over something so simple.

The way she reached out like she could touch every flower from where she stood.

"You okay?" she asked after catching him staring.

Jason blinked.

"Hm?"

"You're doing that thing."

"What thing?"

"The..." she pointed between her eyes and his. "...looking at me like I'm the only person on Earth thing."

He shrugged.

"You kinda are."

Sailor covered her face.

"Jason..."

"What?"

"You can't just say stuff like that."
