"Mckenzie! I missed you soo much over break!!" Julie shouts throwing her arms around me.
I fight the urge to roll my eyes and hug her back.
Yeah, sure, not calling me all summer and ignoring my texts is definitely a sign that you miss me. And it was only a week, chill will ya?
I smile and pull back.
"Me too Julie." I say with as much enthusiasm as I can muster.
She grins.
Oh shit....
"I found a guy...."
I groan.
"Julie, no. I already told you I am done with you setting me up with crazy, phsyco creepers."
She sighs dramatically.
"They were not creepers. Nor were they crazy and phsyco."
I look at her like shes crazy.
"Okay, maybe some of them were...."
I continue to look at her.
She sighs exsasperated. "Fine most of them were pretty messed up, but I know FOR SURE you're gunna like this guy. I know you will. I know you."
I roll my eyes.
"You said that last time Julie."
I walk away and head toward Daniel, with Julie on my heels.
"I'm so sorry." He laughs.
"Make her go away!" I mouth annoyed.
He archs an eyebrow at me.
"Please?" I mouth.
"Fine. Hey Julie, Stephen's in the school looking for you." He says looking at his sister.
"I look back over my shoulder at her.
"Yeah Julie, you should go find him."
A light bulb went off in her head telling her we want her to leave.
"Fine, just watch your back Misty." She turns on her heels and storms off toward the school.
"Misty!? How in hell did she get Misty out of Mckenzie?"
"M's?" He says curiously.
"She screwed up." I say finally. "Sorry, I've been dying to let that one out."
He laughs. "She is pretty obsessive....."
"And controlling and loud, obnoxious, bossy, dramatic. She's a stupid meanie face-"
"Wait, did you just call her a meanie face?" He grins interupting me.
"Yes, yes in fact I did. Now shut up-" I glare at him and he bursts out laghing.
"Stooooppp!" I whine.
"I'm sorry." He says trying to stop laughing. "I can't control it."
I roll my eyes and walk away.
What's with everyone changing all the sudden? It's getting annoying.
"Hey Kenzi, over here."
I sigh in relief and head towards Evan.
"Hey Evan, if you've changed I'm going to punch you in the balls." I say giving him a hug.
He laughs.
"Typical Kenzie, nope I haven't changed." He sighs. "I kinda wish I could though..."
I give him a death stare and he chuckles.
"Kidding!" He holds his hands up in surrender.
I punch his shoulder and sit down.
"Owch, man Kenzie you need to stop being a freak." He laughs messing with my hair.
"Oh, shut up Yoda." I say noticing the green streak in his black hair. He changed it so many times....
"Yoda? That's a new one." He says grinning.
I lay back and look up at the sky just as the bell rings.
"Today is going to suck." I declare slowly getting up.
"Tell me about it." He says following me up the steps and into the prison, where it's motto lingers in my mind.
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
Well....what the hell was yesterday?
