On your mark!

Runners set!

BANG!

The smoke gun echoed throught the stadium as chears filled the atmosphere and with that waves of highschoolers sprinted shoving their way into lane one.

They pushed and sprinted just to get in the front before the cycle continued and they were passed.

All Y/N heard where the metal spikes hitting the ground step after step. Runners sprinted in front him and he found himself in the back half of the race.

He smirked as it wouldn't be to long before half of then fall back and he could move up and take first place.

As he reached the 200 meter mark it happened.

He was able to pass all of the people who sprinted at the start and reach the top 5 group.

He looked over and saw his real competition, the best in America and he was right there with them.

After 2 years of hard work he was in the front of the 1600m race at New Balance Nationals one found the biggest meets in America hosting the best runner's in the country.

They kept running, his steps in sync with theirs, breathing in sync with them.

As they finished their first lap he saw his coach in the corner of his eye.

"3 laps left keep at this pace!"

Y/N nodded and grimaced. He wanted to slow down but knew he couldn't or he'd lose.

He first ran track as an alternative when he didn't make baseball but he soon found out how good he was.

It was his third season and he was competing against the best in America.

As they reached the finish line for the second time Y/N saw his parents in the stadium.

His mother smiled and cheered as his dad took photos with his cheap camera. He smiled remembering all the times they supported him.

They were his heros and the reason he even ran and competed this hard.

He continued to move up surpassing the two people ahead of him. He had reached third place.

His group came back around to the start line and his coach yell "Two laps left!"

Y/N smiled. He knew he could do it. Y/N looked ahead and saw the first place runner start to open his stride.

"Go Y/N! Go with him!"

He felt the burn already. His thighs ached, feet hurt more and more with every step but he listened anyway. Y/N opened his stride picking up his pace.

He passed the guy in second and pushed forwards. He was next to the first place runner they were stride for stride. Every step mirrored the other.

The crowd roared as they passed the finish line. A bell rang signifying there was one more lap left.
