Y/N: Mom! I'm going to be late!

I grabbed my backpack and practically flew down the stairs. My heart hammered against my chest.

Today wasn't a normal school day.

Today I was meeting the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

The BAU.

The people I had watched on documentaries.

The people who caught serial killers.

The people who studied the darkest minds in the country.

And somehow...

I was supposed to be their intern.

At fourteen years old.

It still didn't feel real.

Three months ago, I had been sitting in algebra class finishing a test in eight minutes.

Now I was on my way to Quantico, Virginia.

I stared out the car window.

"What if they hate me?" I asked.

Mom laughed.

"They won't."

"What if I mess up?"

"You won't."

"What if I say something stupid?"

"Y/N, you've been worrying about that since you were six."

I groaned.

"Not helping."

The gates of Quantico appeared ahead.

My stomach dropped.

This was happening.

This was really happening.

Twenty minutes later, I stood outside the BAU bullpen.

My hands were shaking.

The assistant opened the door.

Assistant: They're waiting for you.

Great.

No pressure.

Just the most elite profiling team in the world waiting on me.

I stepped inside.

The room immediately fell silent.

Everyone looked up.

Every.

Single.

Person.

I wanted the floor to swallow me whole.

Then a blonde woman jumped up.

Garcia: OH MY GOD SHE'S ADORABLE.

I blinked.

What?

Garcia rushed toward me.

Garcia: You're tiny!

Y/N: That's the first thing you're saying?

Garcia: Yes.

Y/N: Fair enough.

Garcia gasped dramatically.

Garcia: I already love her.

A man with dark hair laughed.

Morgan: Garcia, you've known her for ten seconds.

Garcia: That's enough time.

Morgan shook his head.
