Maxine and her twin brother Ezra were only 5 when they watched their mother Ann perish at the hands of rogue vampire, and 19 when they lost their father Mason in a battle with another vampire clan. His dying words named Maxine the new alpha, she took on the title with honor but there were whispers amongst the other more experienced werewolves.
"She's not ready"
"What about her temper?"
"She's barely of age!"
She endured it all and pushed forward, did everything she could to prove she could lead. She directed and joined hunts and patrols, sat in war council meetings, settled discourse amongst her pack mates, and spoke with the humans of the village they guarded, Huntsville. Many years ago, long before Mason was even born, the first Greyfangs came across a forming civilization that would later be called Huntsville. The humans of the village were intimidated by the large wolves at first especially when they all took human shape in front of their very eyes, but the alpha was a wise soft-spoken woman who kindly explained to the humans
"We do not wish to harm you, only protect you. We have been sent by Fenrir himself to be your protectors. we will keep you safe, follow your warriors into battle, and die for you if necessary."
The humans made knelt before the alpha and swore an oath to the Greyfangs, the pack would keep the village safe and in turn the villagers would respect the woods around them. This has been the way for a century, and now Maxine was not only in charge of her pack but the humans as well. She would not fail. She would not let them down. She couldn't.
Lillian Andronescu was the only child of Dragos Andronescu, the leader of the vampire clan of the same name. She was smart, mischievous, and all around deadly. Dragos had always despised the way is daughter acted, like everything was a game, but when he got word of who the new Greyfang alpha was he realized he could use her to finally take Huntsville.
"Lillian! Come here girl!" Dragos summoned and within seconds she stepped through the shadows with a curtsy
"Yes father?" she questioned with a smirk flicking her long raven hair out of her face
"I assume you've already heard the news. Mason Greyfang has fallen in battle."
"A true tragedy father" Lillian responded unamused
"Well with him gone one of his brats has taken over.... the female mutt." Dragos offered his own smirk already plotting
"Oh? And I assume there is a reason you're telling me all this." her crimson eyes flashed with curiosity
"Indeed, you enjoy playing games don't you? Well, consider the alpha your new plaything." he answered and she stood there a moment, taken aback by exactly what her father was saying. He wanted her to go after the young alpha, she could do that, and she could do it her way.
"As you command father." Lillian got a wicked smile as she began scheming, this would be fun.
