Poland.
Near Warsaw.
Winter.
The laboratory was hidden deep inside the forest, far away from cities, roads, and people.
From the outside it looked abandoned.
Inside...
it was one of the most secure research facilities in Europe.
Cold white lights illuminated the endless corridors while the sound of computers and machinery filled the underground structure.
I had spent years there beside my father.
Working.
Studying.
Learning.
But despite all that time...
I had never truly understood what he was creating.
I only knew one thing:
whatever the truth was...
it was important enough to terrify very powerful people.
That night felt different from the beginning.
Too quiet.
My father barely spoke while analyzing files on one of the monitors.
His expression was tense.
Distracted.
Almost paranoid.
I slowly looked up from my computer.
"Dad?"
He didn't answer immediately.
He kept staring at the screen.
Then quietly said:
"If anything happens tonight... you listen to me immediately. Do you understand?"
I felt my stomach tighten.
"What are you talking about?"
Before he could answer—
the entire laboratory suddenly went dark.
Complete silence.
Then—
ALARMS.
Red emergency lights exploded across the corridors.
Warning sirens echoed through the structure.
And somewhere upstairs...
gunshots.
My heart stopped.
My father immediately stood up.
And for the first time in my life...
I saw real fear in his eyes.
"They found us."
The words had barely left his mouth when the laboratory doors BURST open.
Armed soldiers stormed into the room.
Not police.
Not normal military.
Something worse.
Black uniforms.
No insignias.
Covered faces.
They started shooting immediately.
Scientists began screaming.
Glass shattered everywhere.
My father violently grabbed my arm.
"RUN!"
A man suddenly appeared beside us.
Tall.
Cold.
Armed.
Marek.
My father's personal bodyguard.
The only person he had ever truly trusted.
"Take her away," my father ordered desperately.
Marek immediately pulled me behind him while firing back at the soldiers.
Everything became chaos.
Bullets.
Smoke.
Screams.
I kept trying to reach my father but Marek wouldn't let me go.
Then—
BANG.
My father collapsed to the ground.
"NO!"
I instantly broke free and ran toward him, falling to my knees beside his body.
Blood was already spreading across his shirt.
His breathing was uneven.
Weak.
The soldiers were getting closer.
Marek kept shooting behind us while yelling something, but I couldn't hear him anymore.
I could only see my father.
His trembling hands.
The blood.
The fear.
Slowly, painfully, my father reached inside his coat and pulled out two small encrypted USB drives attached to a chain.
He pushed them into my hands.
His fingers were shaking.
"You cannot let them take these."
Tears immediately blurred my vision.
"Dad—"
"Listen to me."
His voice completely broke.
"If they discover what's inside... they will kill you."
Gunfire echoed closer and closer.
Marek turned toward us.
"We need to move NOW."
But my father weakly grabbed my wrist before I could stand up.
And for the first time...
he looked terrified for me.
"Trust no one."
Then quietly:
"No one."
Another explosion shook the laboratory.
The lights flickered violently.
Marek forcefully dragged me away while I screamed trying to reach my father again.
But it was too late.
The last thing I saw...
was my father lying on the laboratory floor while flames slowly began consuming the room around him.
