The bass throbbed through the walls like a second heartbeat. Deep, relentless, alive.
Lights flashed in dizzying patterns across the crowded dance floor below, where bodies swayed without rhythm or restraint.
Glasses clinked, laughter spilled too loudly, and somewhere in the distance, someone stumbled toward the comfort room, hand clamped over their mouth.
Others disappeared into corners with strangers, hands intertwined as if they had known each other longer than a single night.
On the second floor, removed from the chaos but not entirely untouched by it, Jennie sat with her team in one of the club’s exclusive VIP sections.
The lounge was dimmer, quieter, private. Reserved only for those whose names carried weight like celebrities, conglomerates, politicians, people who lived under constant scrutiny.
Here, anonymity was bought, and silence was guaranteed. No cameras. No leaks. No scandals at least, not beyond these walls.
Tonight, Jennie was supposed to celebrate.
Two years of work, late nights in the studio, endless revisions, pressure that pressed against her chest like a vice all culminating in one thing, her album. Her name. Her story.

A soft laugh slipped from her lips, almost inaudible against the music. “I’ve never been loud to begin with”
“C’mon, Miss Jennie!” Ms. Lee her personal Assistant chimed in from the couch, lifting her drink. “Loosen up! There are no cameras here!”
“She’s right, Miss Jen!” another staff member added, grinning. “This is literally the only place you can go wild and not trend the next day”
Jennie shook her head faintly, amused. “The album isn’t even launched yet,” she said. “It’s still… pending. Subject to approval.”
Ji-yong stepped closer, his tone firm but reassuring. “It will be launched. Trust me. We’ve put too much into this for them to say no. Once I hand it over, they won’t even dare.”
A beat of silence...then the table erupted into cheers.
Glasses raised, laughter louder this time. But even then, the music swallowed most of it whole.
Jennie smiled, genuinely this time, watching her team celebrate like the victory was already certain. Maybe it was. Maybe this was what she had dreamed of all along.
And yet, something in her chest remained still.
Time passed easily after that,
