{1} - Only you and me and stars

The dark sky was full of stars, but they couldn't see them.
The two men were sitting on their hotel room balcony in LA, the huge, busy city where life doesn't stop at night. Not the best place for stargazing due to light pollution. But it was still perfect.

After their last show of the Maniac Tour, the group celebrated the success of the album and the tour, then most of them went to sleep, except for Hyunjin and Minho. They knew that they should sleep too, cause the next day they would go to the airport really early.

They just couldn't sleep yet. The two men were still in the ecstatic feeling of the concert, the loud music, the lights, the screaming fans, the adrenaline of performing and the whole environment. The two of them were sitting on the balcony in the warm summer breeze. It was a different kind of stargazing: the stars weren't visible on the dark sky, but they could see them in each other's eyes.

Neither of them was drunk or anything, but the whole scene gave them an unexpected honesty. At first, they talked about the most random things, but the topics became more and more personal.

"Have you ever been in love?" Asked Hyunjin. Minho thought about the answer for a couple seconds then said "once. It was a girl in high school. Back then I thought I was too young to understand love but thinking back I'm pretty sure it was love." He explained then looked at Hyunjin. "What about you?"

Hyunjin answered a lot faster. "Not really. I never really had time for it.. or I just wasn't interested in it enough." He looked up at the dark sky. "Or maybe I was actually too young to understand it" he added with a soft laugh.

Minho didn't say anything, which made Hyunjin open up a little more. "I mean, I did find a lot of people attractive, but it was never really love." It was unusual for him to talk about his feelings without having the fear of being judged. But from Minho, he didn't feel the slightest judgment. Not even when he brought up an old rumour about Hyunjin.

"Is it true that you hooked up with another trainee when we were trainees?" He asked with a big smile. Hyunjin looked at him with a mischievous grin and slowly said "noooo..."

Minho raised his eyesbrows so Hyunjin changed his answer. "Maybe..."
"Who was it?"
"I'm not gonna tell you!"
"Do I know her?"
"I won't say anything." Said Hyunjin, still looking at the sky, smiling.
"Just answer one thing!" Said Minho. "Has she debuted?"

Hyunjin finally looked at him and slowly said "yes... He... has debuted... But I'm not telling you who he is."

After some really long seconds of silence, Minho finally spoke.
"Okay, okay... Keep your secrets then." Minho acted offended but then he reassured Hyunjin "I'm not judging."

Minho couldn't hide his curiosity for long.
"So... When you say you found people attractive, are you talking about boys?"
"Not only" said Hyunjin. "I find girls just as attractive as boys. You can call it bisexual or I don't know, I don't really care..."
"Yeah I get it" said Minho, and he actually felt the same way. "People say it's like a spectrum, so like everyone is a little gay but nobody is only gay or I don't know..."

Hyunjin couldn't hold back his laughter. He found Minho's explanation way more amusing than it actually was, maybe because they were both really tired.
"What are you laughing at?" Asked Minho, also giggling a little. "I'm just trying to express that I feel the same!" He rolled his eyes at Hyunjin but smiled.
"So you're saying you're also gay? Or a little gay? But not only gay?" He teased Minho.
"Okay you're impossible to have a conversation with." said Minho with a tired expression.

After a long quiet minute, they got serious again. Minho broke the silence.
"Do you find me attractive?"

The question surprised Hyunjin. In any other situation he probably would've lied. But the dark sky, or the noises of the night, or maybe the warm summer breeze, whatever it was, it made him answer honestly.
"Yes." He admitted.
Minho nodded slowly.
"I think you're also really attractive." He answered the unasked question.

Hyunjin suddenly felt like he needed to explain his answer. "I mean, it's not that I'd think about you that way, but now that you asked it, it's obvious that you're attractive."
He avoided Minho's eyes but the other men kept looking at him.

"What would you do if I kissed you right now? How would you react?" Asked Minho.
"I don't think we should do that..."
"Yeah I won't do it, but what if I did?"
"You wouldn't."
"But what if I would?"
Hyunjin finally looked at him.
"I would kiss you back."

Minho leaned in and kissed him, but Hyunjin pulled back.
"You lied."
"We really shouldn't..."
"But you said you'd kiss me back."
"I know..." Hyunjin didn't know why he didn't kiss him back, even though he really wanted to. But since they debuted, he really tried to hold his own boundaries after having so many messy school years.
"Anyways, you lied too! You said you wouldn't kiss me."
"Come on, it's just a kiss!"

Hyunjin didn't answer. He stood up and walked to the edge of the balcony, put his hands on the railing and looked down at the street.

"Hyunjin..." Said Minho quietly. "Look at me."
The other slowly turned around but his eyes didn't meet the other's.

"Did I offend you?"

"No! It's just... I don't want to make the same mistakes I already did so many times."

"I'm sorry. I should've asked your permission."

Hyunjin sat back next to him. "Don't worry about it. You did nothing wrong." He said but he could see that Minho wasn't really comforted.

Hyunjin knew that he would break his own boundaries and he might regret it later but it didn't matter. He softly held Minho's chin and slowly kissed him. It surprised the older, but he kissed back. After some really long seconds Minho broke their passionate kiss.

"Are you sure you're fine with it?" He asked. Hyunjin nodded but it didn't seem to convince Minho enough.

"It's just a kiss. It's not like we're in love with each other, right?"

"Right." Said Minho with a confident smile and kissed him again.
