It was the end of the best time of the year, summer, it was joy and laughs, new stories to tell and the start of one more year of school. Most teenagers did not understand why school mattered so much but believe it or not high school was the key to their biggest lessons at such an early age. In the city of Bakersfield, California, lived the Martinez family, Adam Martinez, Rose Martinez, Lydia Martinez and the youngest, Darius Martinez. They were known for their love for charity and partying at their big wonderful mansion close to the beach. Lydia was a beautiful and smart blonde girl with bright green eyes and an enchanting smile, she was 17 years old and about to start her senior year of high school, with the goal of getting into college and studying Criminology. Darius, Lydia's younger brother who studied in the same school as her, was a cheerful and charming 16 year old boy who could win everyone's heart with his good humor and carisma. His curly dark blonde hair complemented his attractive gaze and he had a very captivating energy.

Lydia had so much love for her younger brother, she was protective over him and sometimes they did not get along but they could not really live without each other and that was a fact they both knew. His parents had had better days, Adam and Rose did not love each other anymore and everyone knew it but the idea of breaking up a family was too hard to accept so they chose to try again and again but it always ended up in a fight. It was the first day of school and Lydia was happy to get out of the house so right after getting ready she got in the car with Darius. The car ride was quiet which made Darius uncomfortable so he asked : - Why does it have to be like this for us? It feels like 2 years ago everything was fine and now our family is falling apart more and more everyday. Lydia took a deep and tired breath without looking at her brother and said : - It is not our responsibility that they are obviously over and do not break up because they are too scared so all we can do is build our own future and make the right decisions so that we do not end up like them. Darius agreed and decided to break the tension by putting some music on. Has they arrived to school everything was different, the old blue walls were now clean white and there was one more small building. -This sh1t is different, finally some change, we need it so why not start with the school walls and space. - Lydia said in an ironic tone as she parked the car. Darius got out of the car and his friends were already waiting for him at the door calling for him.
