The Lost Child [ AoT - OC Fanfiction ]

Chapter 1 - Found yet lost

- Year: 841
The survey corps had an expedition outside wall maria, a group led by the 12th commander Keith Shadis at that time. It was a quiet spring day, luckily there were almost no Titans around.
A young Erwin noticed quickly that his comrade Miche smelt something off, he seemed to sense something close.
„I smell the scent of a human and blood over there" Miche explains to Erwin, trusting his good senses. The two soldiers inform their commander about the smell and head over to some nearby trees, the scent's getting stronger.

The scouts were in quite some shock as they found a kid. Around 10 years old, brown hair and freckles. She was severly injured, missing like half of her right arm, laying and covered in blood.
What is she doing outside the walls? what happend here?
Erwin jumps from his horse and walks towards her, placing a finger on her pulse point ‚she is still alive?' he whispers to himself, his eyes widen at the surprise.

The group quickly picked the girl up and took her inside the walls, usually the survey corps will get ceremoniously greeted as a welcome back gesture from the citizens inside the wall. To avoid attracting attention to the kid Erwin himself took her and walked discreetly along the edge of the city while the rest of the group distracted the citizens with their return. It would only cause trouble if a person, or more precisely a child, was found outside the walls.

It was a miracle the girl survived outside there, but with that blood loss it was only a matter of time... a bit longer and she would've died for sure. The Scouts quickly took her to a hospital.
And odd thing they found was some blood smudged onto her clothes. She had blood all over her so this alone wasn't the weird point but one spot looked like it was written, just no one of the soldiers, doctors or nurses were able to identify the writing or even a letter. Maybe it is just a coincidence after all.

Almost a whole day has passed since the child was found outside the walls and finally she opened her eyes. Disoriented and confused she looked through the room. Her heart rate rises and she doesn't know what is going on nor what happend.

Beside her bed survey corps member Hange Zoe was watching over the girl. As Hange noticed her waking up they got excited.
„You're awake!"
The little girl seem a bit taken aback, maybe even a bit scared of Hange.

„My name is Hange, I'm part of the Survey Corps, my comrades have found you outside the walls on their expedition yesterday. Do you know what you were doing out there all alone?" Hange speaks in a comforting tone, maybe even to distract the girl from her injuries till realization kicks in.
The kid slowly shakes her head, still confused, not saying a word. She seems to take in the surrounding more and more as the seconds and minutes pass by.
The girl tries to push up herself to adjust her posture in the hospital bed. In this moment she realized how she slipped on the right side, she slipped cause there was nothing quiet left to lean onto. Half of her arm was missing, only thing is left till the elbow.

This was the moment the kids expression turned into pure horror, the realization kicked in and the slight feeing of dizziness by just waking up is completly gone. By a closer look down her body she sees her missng arm, she feels every cut and bruise and panic kicks in.

„Shh... okay, okay... calm down-„ Hange quickly realizes that now it's time to act.
The girls chest starts to rise and fall rapidly, her breathing is unsteady and she's shaking slightly.
„Okay listen... it happend a lot and we don't know everything yet that's why we need your cooperation in that case." Hange clarifies trying to calm the her down and it works, she slowly calms down.

A while passes by till Hange feels sure that the girl is calm and steady. During that time the door to the hospital room opened and two tall men walked in. Erwin and Miche.
„She is awake...?" Erwin says calmly as he approached Hange and the kid.
