"Oh, also Dee didn't even want to be in esports because of you and he told me that personally."
I've had multiple messages that were similar to this in the past. But none of them had hurt me as deeply as this one had done. It was the final piece of evidence in a trial I'd been holding against myself for years. I realized I would never be in tune with anyone—least of all myself.
The "Dee" situation didn't start off bad. No, it was like a fairytale that seemed to be going so well. It was a friendship that felt like arriving to a long awaited destination to see someone you've missed. We were perfectly happy with each other—right up until the moment he became infatuated with that one girl: Rae.
Rae was no stranger to me. She was a ghost of my past that I thought wouldn't come back—a girl who had "danced" with a mutual friend of ours back in the second semester of freshman year. It hadn't lasted long, just a blip on the radar, but looking back, that should've been my warning. I should've known I wasn't done with her yet.
