For as long as I been raised, I'd always hear how much my kind absolutely despises humans. They hate the way humans treat our home's ecosystem and carelessly dump trash into our waters. They have no intelligence, no respect, and no morals whatsoever. Humans are an eyesore to look at walking on two 'legs' if I remember that's what they're called along with their ridiculous 'clothing' too.
Oh how rude of me to not introduce myself before. My name is Star, princess of a siren kingdom that's deep underwater. No human can reach my home without being built to withstand the low depths, or given the gift of a sirens kiss.
I have long wavy black hair with a purple underside, pale purple irises with slit pupils, and quite fair skin tone. I also have webbings between my fingers, fins on my forearms, and a long black fish tail that gives off a purple iridescent shine when exposed to light. My scales along my tail are quite sharp like my claws if you rub them the wrong way.
As one of the eight princesses of my kingdom, I don't generally have an opinion on humans. My father truly hates it when I go exploring especially too close to the above world, land. From time to time I still do, watching humans walk along these wooden structures they call docks onto their floating devices I think was called ships or boats. Of course I make sure to stay out far along the jagged rocks, spying carefully at night. It's the only time I choose to go up since I know it's safe.
Currently it's getting darker out once more, meaning the sun is setting. Unlike my sisters who let our staff bring food to us, I live for the thrill of hunting my own. To me I personally choose between kelp or tuna.
I'm swimming along the currents as I look around for some food. First I look for kelp or least seaweed, and not really seeing any nearby. So I decide to move away from my usual reefs and travel out farther than I should from my kingdom. My father will be furious if he finds out, however there's seven other daughters that are sure to distract him from wondering where I am.
I'm moving swiftly towards closer to the surface of the water looking downwards, looking for any signs of fish I'm in the cravings for. When I catch silver scales reflect off the moonlighting, my pupils diolate and I swoop down for the catch. There was a school of tuna fish, however I only wanted one. As soon as I snatch one up in my hands I waste no time sinking my sharp teeth into my prey.
Just as great as always, as the other mindless fish swim around or pass me, a rather big shadow passes above me. I pay no mind to anything as I get halfway done with my kill. Then I notice that the other tuna around me seem spooked and dart away. I don't know what's happening until something throws off my balance.
I'm panicking as I realize I've been caught in a net, a human net. I'm not supposed to be seen by humans! They'll sure kill me if they realize they've caught me. Fish are also being caught in the net with me as I'm being squished around them. I'm trying to get close to any part of the net so I can least try to cut myself free, yet no use.
Suddenly all the fish above me feel suffocating to be under as the net is now reeled out of the ocean. I can't struggle as much as I hear creeking from the line as I hear masculine voices talking. Haven't studied any human languages well enough yet I assume they're directing where to drop the fish. Once they open the net I do plan to get away.
As soon as they release everything they trapped into their net, I open my mouth to scream yet nothing comes out. Thankfully some of the tuna below me provided somewhat a cushion as the rest roll off me and flop on the boat. I use whatever strenth I have to push the big silver fish off me while hearing distant footsteps around along with gasps.
I don't have time to count how many humans are on board, my goal is for an exit fast! My eyes dart around and then I see the ships railings, the bars look big enough for me to slide through them and there's no humans in that direction. So I push myself forward while moving my tail back and forth, moving like a serpent as I'm trying to slither towards my escape. It's just right there, just a few more feet ahead.
Then I feel yet another net thrown onto me in which gets me to shriek and hiss. Men all around me wrap me up in the net as I try snapping my jaws at them and claw at them.
"Boss! We caught one!" a man says as four or six men hoist me up. So they were after me and not the fish?!
They toss me into some container with salt water in it and then lock it shut. I could still see them from within as I continue to scream and scratch at my new cage. It sure feels cramped in this thing, not meant to really hold a siren like me.
Now their whole crew is gathered around me, watching me like some freak while one figure is stepping through the crowd. When he emerges from behind his crew, he looked like the leader on this vessel by how wrinkly and old he is. His greasy beard neary covers his entire chest as his hat casts an eerie Shadow over half his face. That's when I began to think that I'm really fucked now.
"What a beauty alright...you're gonna cost us a fortune alright," He says in a somewhat deep scratchy voice.
Just my luck, these guys are hunters.
