*Reader POV*
I dance around the ring, my footwork impeccable as I dodge every swing thrown my way. She's getting impatient now, her cockiness slowly slipping away as she realises I'm not as shit as she thought. I lunge forward, my glove crashing with her face before retreating as she stumbles back, just barely catching herself.
"COME ON Y/N" My eyes dart to the shouting curly haired girls, all on their feet as they watch me intensely. My eyes linger on Demitra, her gaze different to her sisters. I manage to lock back in right as she swings for me, her glove grazing my cheek bone.
"Concentrate" I hear a stern voice from the side, my coach hanging off the ropes. We'd had this discussion before the match, he'd said I'd been slacking on my training and not concentrating enough during the matches, that my eyes were on a certain girl instead of my opponents. I couldn't argue much, he was probably right. But little glances and secret moments were all me and Demitra had right now. "Come on" He was getting impatient too. I squinted towards the girl who smirked back at me, shouting something about 'beating my ass'. I could barely hear her over the crowd. I stopped dead in my tracks, cracking my neck, keeping my eyes on hers like an animal watching their prey. The crowd got quiet, maybe they knew what I was doing, or maybe they were confused. I waited, and waited, just long enough until her guard slipped, her hands lowered and her eyes moved away from me. Then I lunged. My glove crashed with face before moving down to her stomach, her body falling back into the ropes. The ref circled us, shouting various phrases out until he grabbed my arm, waving it in the air as he pushed me back over to my side. My breath was heavy as I watched her stand, regaining her composure. I looked over to my coach, he gave me a thumbs up this time, then put 1 singular finger up. I knew what that meant, one more point and I win. My eyes moved to the girls again, as if I wasn't even doing it on purpose. Eli and Sunday were cheering like madmen, their home-made signs flying around above their heads, I think they have more fun than me at these things. Demitra was stood next to them, smiling up at me. Her sign had lowered, her eyes shining at me like she'd never seen me like this before. She admitted a while back that me being up here, all sweaty and half dressed, was one of her favourite ways to see me. And looking at her now, I can tell.
I didn't even hear the match start, or the crowd cheer, but I caught the falter in Demitra's smile right before I felt the crash of my opponents glove with my face. I fell back, my head smacking the floor, an audible gasp erupting from the crowd. She was on me then, straddling my hips as her fist crashed into me again and again. I don't know how long it went on, my mind becoming fuzzy and my arms falling to my sides, not able to defend myself from her relentless punches. Eventually the weight on her on my body disappeared, but I didn't move, I couldn't. My ears were ringing, my eyes half closed and blurry. I could have sworn I'd started seeing stars. I groaned as a cold hand came in contact with my hot cheek. I forced my eyes open, blinking repeatedly until my vision cleared. There was 4 people hovering over me, my coach, the ref, my opponent and my opponents coach. My eyes were still ringing as the ref spoke, waving someone over and then saying something to the group. My opponent and her coach retreated to their corner, thankfully the furthest one away from me right now. The ref backed up too as a woman wearing a bright green 'first aid' t-shirt appeared, prodding at me. I swatted her away, another involuntary groan escaping my lips as I pulled myself up to a seated position. My head throbbed as I turned to look for Demitra, her face covered in panic. I tried to give her a reassuring smile but my swollen face could barely even move.
"I'm fine" I said, my voice barely audible to myself as my ears kept ringing. My coach said something as the first aid woman looked between us. I rubbed at my ear, shaking my head.
"You're done" He said again, my ears popping so I could finally hear. I winced at the sound, his voice too loud for my throbbing head.
"I'm fine" I repeated, licking my dry lips, the taste of metal in my mouth from my bloodied face.
"You're done Y/N" Coach said sternly, although his eyes remained full of concern. "Fights over" I let out a shaky breath, attempting to pull myself to my feet. My coach and the first aid woman both hooked their own arms under mine, pulling me up and leading me off the ring. I couldn't fight, as much as I wanted too, I could barely even stand right now. My eyes were frantically moving around the crowd as I limped to my changing room, attempting to ignore any cameras flashing my way. "I'll find her" Coach said, knowing exactly who I'm looking for. I gave a weak nod and allowed them to walk me away, practically slumped down before I reached the bench in my changing room. The wall felt cold on my back, my head falling forward as I attempted to catch my still uneven breath.
"I'm gonna need to have a proper look at you" The woman said as my coach disappeared back out again. She moved to the side, emptying out the small medical bag she has with her. I didn't argue this time, I wouldn't be surprised if the girl broke my whole face.
It didn't take long for the doors to swing open, Sunday, Demitra and Eli flying through them. Demitra was first, not even letting her sisters get a word in edge ways as she flung a series of questions to me. 'Are you okay?' 'What happened up there?' 'Does it hurt?' 'What do you need?' I waved my hand to tell her to be quiet, she mumbled a 'sorry' as she took a seat next to me, her eyes scanning my injuries.
"You good?" She practically whispered, her hand going to my leg.
"I'm good" I whispered back, my head falling to her shoulder and my hand covering hers on my leg, holding onto her like she's the only thing I need right now. Her head rested gently on mine, her thumb running circles over my thigh. All I need right now is some quiet, no questions and just for her to be here, she knows that. Her head moved slightly, her lips pressing gently to my forehead before returning back to its original position. It was only then I looked up again, my eyes landing on her sisters who had taken a step back, giving us some space. As much as we've been convinced this has all been a secret, they're not as stupid as we think. And from the knowing look they share as we sit cuddled up, it's obvious. They know exactly what's going on between me and Demitra.
