Hello readers!
Thank you for giving Beautiful Red Rose a chance! As you could see in the blurb and in the tags, this is a heavy story. You'll either love it, or hate it. And as you go through the page, you'll find themes that are questionable. I won't sugarcoat it, the main cast is 18 and under (between 15 and 17) and in high school. While the story is not explicit, the main characters and side characters do things that they shouldn't do at their age, such as drinking, smoking, and doing drugs. There are also a lot of sexual jokes, but not any sexual acts. However, if you're not comfortable with that, I advise you to go back and never touch this book.
This is a work of fiction, loosely inspired by things I've seen happen, things I've done myself, and emotions I've felt. I made the choice to write it, but it's also your choice if you decide to read it or not. Let's all be kind and respectful.
So, here's a little info about me to help you understand why I write and love this book with all my heart, despite all the wrong in it. Not to make excuses, but to help you treat it with kindness instead of judgment. I wrote this story at the age of 15. It was my therapy story to cope with mental health struggles, sleeping meds addiction, several suicide attempts, and a string of bad habits and shitty decisions. Now that I read it with the eye of an adult, I see more clearly how fucked up my brain was, and how desperate I was for love and understanding. I used my main character to express my own anger and sorrow because I had no one who could truly get how I feel. It's not really a self-insert, since he's a complete opposite, personality-wise, but his apathy and emotional crashouts are similar to what I've been through.
That's it, take that info however you want. Just keep in mind that I'll never support anything screwed up that's happening in this book.
That being said, let's dive into the touchy subjects:
-No, I won't age up my characters, because some things they do won't make sense if they're adults.
-It's not a romance. There's no official couple in this book. Even if there's tension and affection between the characters, there are lines I won't cross, no matter how blurred they seem.
-I've shed tears, sweat and blood (this one is quite literal) for this story. I went through many mental breakdowns, days without sleeping, eating, and showering to finish all the chapters I wanted to write, and dissociation. So I'm quite protective of this story. That's why I'd like you to keep it civil if you ever have an opinion to make.
-I'm not a native English speaker. My main language is French. I used Google Translate and a bit of Gemini to help me rephrase sentences in British English, since my own word-for-word translation feels too robotic, ironically enough. I prefer using American English on a daily basis, and I have a hard time catching the difference between the two. Either way, if some paragraphs are badly translated, it's entirely my fault.
If you've read through the A/N, thank you for understanding, and now enjoy the story.
And if you like it, please leave comments and votes!
Love you all!
