Beacon Academy, a place where young men and women of different backgrounds come to learn and train to the protectors of the four kingdoms. In this education they are stationed into teams of four, to the students and staff of beacon the one team that stands would be team RWBY, but they aren't the focus for this or a team for this matter. But one boy's soul will help those in a new way.
Jaune Arc wasn't the best student,he was the worst in terms of combat. He knew that by a long shot. Probably because he never had any actual training, he was a good guy to the point and had decent grades, but he could never truly say he's one of the physical best or average. He's always training with his partner Pyrrha but he knows he'll never be on par with his peers, and is reminded every session in combat class. He just wished he could be more than just himself.
He walked into his dorm room to rest. In there he saw his team and his sister team; RWBY, all of them on their scrolls. Usually this is seen as being lazy, but after the illegal dust raid they stopped yesterday and slaying that swarm of Grimm last week, they have the excuse of being lazy. Especially with the sensation in the kingdoms.
It started months ago, a new game app appeared. The weird part was no one knew who made it, in context it was a contest. You basically spin a wheel and when you stop it you do an online challenge like a puzzle, but word is one of the tiles has an instant win. As far as he knows, because he has the game but he doesn't play it much.
"Still hooked on that game", said Jaune.
"Yup", said Ruby, not even looking away. "still not playing".
"No, I was raised to be obsessed with my phone all the time", replied the blonde.
"Well snoozed on you, vomit boy", said Yang.
"I expected this out of some of you but-"
"Don't think you never did this once, Arc", said Weiss.
"Then what".
"It's for the completion", said Ruby. "they said if you win, you get a mysterious prize"
"So you all are playing a mysterious game for a mysterious prize, i expected this out of most of you but". Jaune explained, as he looked at Pyrrha, Weiss, Blake, and Rein.
"I don't even know, I can't stop playing it", said Rein.
As much as Jaune wanted to ask, he felt he'd get the same answer. But right about he left Nora spoke up.
"Why don't you join us, Jaune".
"Yeah we could use an extra pair of hands, come on", said Ruby. The others all agreed, so out of peer pressure, he caved, brought out his phone, and pressed the app.
They all look at Jaune, waiting for him to help and understand them. He then spins the wheel and waits for whatever he gets.
"I still don't see the hype, it's just a regular slot game I'm just gonna-".
He didn't finish, as celebration music went off from his phone. He looked down and saw the screen, and there in gold and jewels on it were the words; congratulations you won in all caps.
"I won".
"YOU WON", said the compatriots in the room. All wide eyed and mouth open.
"How, we're on that game for almost an hour", said Ruby.
"Forget us, why not someone else there people who spend their time on their screens why Jaune and not them", said Weiss.
"I think we're forgetting something", said Pyrrha who gestures to the winner himself. "Jaune, how are you feeling"?
