Chapter 06 (Part Two)

Start from the beginning

Nathan wasn't sure what time it was when he woke up, but he noticed he was still on his back, with his head turned to face Varian. That would hurt when he went to get up. However, he noticed that Varian had turned onto his stomach, and was curled up under the blanket while holding his pillow. Nathan also noticed that Varian's side was against his, which wasn't particularly uncommon. They were usually touching somehow when they slept. Except one thing about the scene confused Nathan.

Varian was shirtless. And he was fairly sure that when they'd gone to sleep, Varian had a shirt on. Not that Nathan was complaining, but...it was unexpected.

Nathan sat up, turning his head to the opposite side and cringing as it popped before looking back down to Varian. He shifted slightly at Nathan's movement and inhaled deeply, but otherwise stayed asleep. Nathan reached over, putting his hand on Varian's back and drumming his fingers lightly. "Varian..." he mumbled quietly.

Varian didn't wake up right away, though he did stir, and groaned a little in what Nathan assumed was a protest. Too bad.

"Varian. Varian. Varian." Nathan said repeatedly, saying his name each time he drummed his fingers. Varian growled quietly.

"Annoying doesn't count as nice."

Nathan hummed at that, leaning over Varian to kiss his cheek, since Varian wasn't facing him.

"I like that much better." Varian said, yawning a little before turning onto his side and looking at Nathan. "Why didn't you do that from the beginning?"

"Because it's entertaining to annoy you." Nathan replied. It really was. That might not have been the best response in the world, but hey, at least he was honest...

"Not for me."

Nathan smiled slightly. "Sorry." he mumbled.

"It is entertaining some of the time, but not right now." Varian replied, flipping over onto his back and sitting up, rubbing at his eyes. "Is it still Friday or Saturday?"

"...I think it's Friday." Nathan said with a small frown. "My phone's got the date. But I think I left it in the car. So I have no idea."

"I'm too disoriented to tell right now either. Don't even know what time it is."

Eh. They'd figure it out later. After Nathan got to the bottom of the missing shirt.

"So..." Nathan mumbled, pointedly glancing over Varian's chest and stomach. "Missing something?"

Varian glanced down and shrugged. "It would look that way."

Nathan nodded slightly. "Uh-huh. Why?"

"I will sometimes undress in my sleep, if I'm too warm." Varian explained before looking back up and over at Nathan. "Are you complaining?"
