Sometimes after abuse and substance abuse, people like I suffer from ruminations. Ruminations are a consistent, thought that is negative and makes you paranoid. Let's talk about how to make affirmations work!
Affirmations are the opposite of ruminations. Positive thoughts. Easy!
We can recite them for self love, we can write them down to lock them in but I found that useless before.
What can we do to make affirmations work?
Because we are intelligent with diplomas, we often over complicate the process due to being experience. Let's go back and incorporate the simple 5 Ws. WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND WHY?
I choose: WHAT? Lets change what we are SPEAKING during the affirmation. I call it re-definitions. Instead of ANGER being: a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility. I call it: evidence of past negativity that I choose to use as an opportunity to be calm.
When dealing with narcissi tic people, mentally ill individuals, or just mere confusion, manipulation and mistakes can happen. Trust in yourself, breathe and ask yourself:
WHAT IS THE POINT/END POINT OF THIS CONVERSATION?
That will get rid of a great deal of meaningless communication. We often feel triggered and confused because of the heaviness of the conversation and the person whom we speak with.
"Haste makes waste". It only takes a couple minutes to breathe, clear your mind and analyze the situation. Anxiety would push you to make rash decisions in less than 30 seconds.
Lets find personal ways to deal with anxiety!
