Silvanna sat on a dining chair with her employee, years of hard work had finally paid off and was now a high ranking manager at a company she worked for.

But that didn't inflate her ego, in fact she loved making friends with the employees below her, she believed in mutual respect, but despite her friendly persona, she didn't really have a family anymore, most are dead.

At thanksgiving, one of the employees invited her to her house, they had grown quite close over a year of working.

"When's your husband coming home?" Silvanna asked Mirian, "well he should be home any minute now, I dont really know what's taking him so long" Mirian shrugged, "but anyway, if you'd really like you could stay the night here, its thanksgiving and its sad to spend the night alone you know?" Mirian suggested

"I'll think about it later" Silvanna giggled a bit and continued "will depend how much we will drink later honestly" "we probably wont drink that much honestly, my husband isn't much of a drinker so I dont drink much as well" Mirian said

Silvanna nodded taking note of it, guess she won't get shitfaced drunk with her friend tonight, before they could continue their conversation though, a knock was heard from the front door.

"Oh, must be my husband, I'll be right back" Mirian said getting up from her chair, Silvanna just nodded and looked around, she hadn't really met her friend's husband yet despite of being friends for a year, but it was because they usually only go out for coffee and eat outside after work, and not much time to introduce him to her.

She heard footsteps behind her and went to turn around, but as she did, her eyes locked onto a familiar pair of eyes she will never forget

"Baby this is my boss from the company that also happened to be a really good friend of mine, Silvanna" Mirian said, Silvanna smiled despite the feeling of her heart absolutely dropping at the bottom of her stomach, "Silvanna this is James, my husband" she continued.

"Nice to meet you James" Silvanna said continuing to smile through the pain of a thousand needles piercing her heart, James just nodded and said "I'll just put the wine and the extra sodas on the refrigerator and Ill be right there"

Silvanna wanted to excuse herself and die but she couldnt make it obvious, specially not when he seems perfectly fine, even if she's in despair she shall never make it known.

"After a year you finally met him, does he match every single one of my stories?" Mirian asked excitedly, "he actually does, I thought you were lying about his height" Silvanna chuckled "see! I told you he was tall" Mirian said giggling and lightly hitting her arm.

Silvanna always said no way her husband is 6'4 tall, but of course he is, she should know first hand.

She felt stupid, and its honestly a bizarre situation to be in, who could've ever guessed her greatest love would be her friend's husband, why would she never ask to see a picture and how come Mirian never thought to show her.

Fate really is a mysterious thing.

James came back, "I'm back" he announced, "what are you two talking about?" He asked, "nothing" Mirian laughed off, "what took you so long by the way" Mirian asked as she started to get a portion of mac and cheese and start eating, to which all of them followed

"Oh it was traffic, honestly sucked. But anyway, what brings you here Silvanna" he responded, "Mirian invited me cause she found out I had no one to spend thanksgiving with" Silvanna said with each word desperately hiding the pain in her voice.

"No boyfriend?" He asked "no, too busy" "she gets to travel lots though" Mirian butted in, "oh neat, where?" "Tell him about that trip to Japan recently" Mirian urged, happy that her friend and her husband are talking, completely oblivious to their past.

"Oh nice, Ive always wanted to go to Japan" James said, "I know." Silvanna thought, they used to always talk about it, they had planned to settle down in Japan once, that's why it was her most visited place. "It was really pretty, exactly how its like in the pictures"

"This pasta is really good babe, taste it" Mirian said as she brought a fork up to his mouth, Silvanna watched, her throat tightening with each second, but she swallowed and remained looking happy in her seat.

The dinner continued on, the conversation light and fun, but soon the night was getting deeper, and Silvanna wanted to go home, but thank goodsness the conversation about their past never came up, seemingly both of them didnt want to talk about it.

"You really dont want to stay the night?" Mirian asked, "Im good Mirian, thank you for letting me spend thanksgiving here" Silvanna said holding her hand in gratitude

"Okay.. well atleast let my husband drive you home please" Mirian suggested, to which James jumped on "I agree, just to make sure you get home safe"

With the suggestion of the two of them, she couldn't say no now. Though she hoped Mirian would come along, Mirian said she was tired and would be going to sleep.

Silvanna wanted to beg right then and and there, but she held her composure, "are you sure? You dont want to come along?" Silvanna asked "yea, Im so tired I really want to go to sleep" Mirian said retreating upstairs.

As they get into the car, it was quiet. She'd be lying if she said she didnt miss his presence.

"Its been awhile" he started "yea, 6 years I think." She responded before getting quiet once again. "Thank you by the way" he said once again out of nowhere, "for what?"

"For ending it, back then I thought you would be the one, then I met Mirian, I couldnt have been happier"

Such simple words, carrying the power the of a thousand swords, she clutched the edge of the seat, she knows she was the one that ended it, but why is she the one that couldnt move on.

"Yea, you do look happier" "dont worry, you'll find yours someday"
