My phone vibrates.
I open it, hoping to see her notification. Her message.
But nothing, just a stupid Instagram notification.
I open the app. I scroll through each story, watching without really watching. After a few minutes, I go to my profile, type her name in the search bar, and then...
"No users found."
I frown and scroll through my conversations until I find ours.
"Instagram user."
Damn, what an asshole.
Present.
Waking up this morning is hard, harder than usual. My phone alarm is ringing on repeat, but my body can't move. I'm far too tired; my autumn vacation was dominated by moving...Suddenly, my bedroom door bursts open. I jump and sit bolt upright, rubbing my eyes, blinded by the light from the hallway.
"Hey Antheia, your phone's been making a horrible noise for the past four hours. There are people sleeping here, you know? "
This is my older sister, Anaé... I think I'm going to kill her.
I get up and turn off that damn ringtone that's blasting my eardrums.
"Yeah, okay, I'll turn it off..." I say, tired.
"And you're going to be late, hurry up, you're not even up yet, girl, honestly..." She left my room with those encouraging words.
I finally get out of bed, take off my silk bonnet, grab the clothes I laid out the night before, and go wash up, get dressed, and put on my makeup before quickly heading out because, indeed: I was going to be late...
After a long... very long bus ride, I walked to the high school and went inside. It's big. Too big.I paced the hallways looking for the student council room to get my information, but in vain. Until finally, after a good fifteen minutes of searching, I stumbled upon that damn room... I went in after a split second of hesitation and came face to face with a handsome blond guy in a shirt and tie, sorting papers, sitting at a table...
"Um... excuse me?" I said hesitantly.
He looked up from his papers to see me.
"Hello! You're Antheia... Antheia Diaz?"
I nodded in confirmation.
"I'm Nathaniel, the head delegate."
He stood up, picked up a sheet of paper from the desk, and stepped forward to hand it to me. I took it, holding it with my fingertips, as if I were afraid it would burn me.
"Here's your timetable. We're in the same class, so if you need any help catching up on the lessons from the beginning of the year, or if you need help getting around the school, don't hesitate to ask. I'd be happy to help—"
I saw Nathaniel suppress a chuckle before declaring with a charming smile,
"We should go to our room."
"Yes..." I said, embarrassed.
Nathaniel left the room, gesturing for me to follow him, which I did, to our room. The delegate entered and sat down next to a petite brunette with long hair, while I scanned the room for an empty seat, which I found next to a pretty girl with a Victorian look.
"Hi, can I sit here?"
"Sure! My name's Rosalya, but you can call me Rosa, it's easier. And you? You have beautiful eyes!"
I sat down and took out my things.
"My name is Antheia, thank you so much! I really like your style, it's original," I said, with a friendly smile.
"Thank you ! But there are two of us in this class! Lysandre, my boyfriend's brother."She pointed to a man with white and emerald hair, his back to her.
He was sitting next to a man with shoulder-length hair that was...red? Could he be...No. Impossible.
I couldn't help but glance sideways at him; Rosalya was staring intently at me.
"Is everything alright?" she asked, intrigued.
"Yes, excuse me, I was...away with my mind."
She nodded, and the lesson began.
After two long hours, the bell rang and everyone stood up, gathering their belongings in a
chaotic mess.
"Do you want me to introduce you to the girls?"
"Yes, with pleasure."
So we both left the room, approaching a group of four girls: the petite brunette from earlier, a pretty redhead, a mixed-race woman, like me, with short hair, and another who seemed rather reserved but with purple hair.
"Girls! This is Antheia! She just arrived. Antheia, this is Melody, she's the substitute for Nathaniel, Kim, Violet, and Iris!"
"I'm delighted to meet you all."
"Us too, welcome little girl" Kim said. She really seems to have quite a personality.
"It's rare to have new people at this time of year, why are you only arriving now?" Melody wondered.
"I used to live with my mom, but I decided to move in with my dad in September. We thought it would be better for me to move during the school holidays."
Iris spoke up:
"Well, I hope you really like it here. It's not easy arriving mid-year, so I hope you settle in well!"
"Thank you so much! That's so sweet."
We continued talking for the rest of recess before heading to our next class. Rosalya invited me to eat with her and her friend Alexy, a boy with flashy clothes and blue hair. But my father and I had planned to meet up during my break to spend some time together. So I was crossing the schoolyard toward the exit when my eyes fell upon a small notebook lying abandoned on a bench. I approached it and picked it up.
"I'll have to put it in lost and found..." I sighed before someone took the notebook from my hands.
"Hey! Why do you have Lysander's notebook?!"
That voice...
I looked up at the man, the man with the red hair... Him.
"Castiel?!"
He looked at me for a few moments before slowly opening his mouth.
"What are you doing here?"
