(Elliot POV)

The monster that ruined my home stands over me, smirking demonically. As usual. He draws that blasted sword that burns everything it touches, preparing to launch himself at me like so many times before. I close my eyes, it's best for before you die, but nothing happens. I only open my eyes when I feel the rush of someone appearing in front of me and hoisting me over their shoulder. "Wha- S-seven?!" I splutter in confusion and fury. "Put me down!"

Why did he have to be so heroic?

"No! I'm getting you somewhere safe!" He yells back, somehow outrunning his mutated son with me over his shoulder. The looming form of the dirt mountain comes towards us. I want to struggle but the blood staining my red shirt redder disagrees. Seven takes me up the slope, whatever was driving his movements finally running low as he half collapses onto the ground. "You... okay...?" He pants, laying me down on the ground behind the small tree. My head spins with dizziness, not letting me nod. Finally, I let myself shake my head, weakly moving to sit against the cliffside behind me. Seven curses and stands, stumbles slightly and winces.

He took a hit for me. Why would he do that? I see the blood drip down his neck and grimace, feeling a pang of guilt that I try to suppress. He walks to the end of the area we can access and picks up a small white box. A medkit. Was Seven about to do what I think he's going to do? I watch as he walks over to me and kneels down, opening the medkit to start cleaning my wounds. His hands work fast but gently at the cuts and bruises on my arm, I wince but don't complain.

After a while he stands back, blood still seeping down his neck. "Listen I know you probably just want me to leave but-" He starts, but I cut him off by shoving a slice of pizza in his mouth and storming off. Why did he always have to be so nice? Why can't he go back to being the ruthless easy-to-hate exploiter? Why is he so kind to me? I hear him sigh and start doing the generator that was in front of me while I was sitting down. I take a moment to look around. The map would have been nice if not for the red freak trying to kill us. It was peaceful, even pretty, with its small crumbling structures and little trees. It reminds me of home.

I check the timer, twenty seconds left before the round ends. No one needs pizza, so I guess I'll just go hide.

Before I can even step into the larger glass house I see Seven again. He's up against the wall, his back pressing against the glass with his head down. I don't think he noticed me. He looks peaceful. My jaw tightens as I walk towards him. "Well?" I ask, hands on my hips.

"Well what?" He says back, voice polite like it always is. That damn polite voice. Why can't it ever be hateful? Why can't he hate me back? I blink, realizing I've been standing there for way too long. "What were you going to say before?" I answer after a moment. Seven makes a sound halfway between a sigh and a chuckle. "Oh, well I was going to say-"

He was cut off by the rushing feeling of all the atoms in your body being jerked out from where they are meant to be and thrown who knows how far back to the lobby.
