RED, WHITE AND BLONDE

ELENA EVANGELINE WOODS was set out to succeed, from the day that she was born.

And she liked to believe that now, after much personal improvement, she had.

No longer was she shallow daughter that Lonnie and Regina Woods had shaped her to be, no longer did she yearn for their approval to be the best she possibly could be in their eyes. Her parents were barely a second thought to her anymore. Lonnie no longer had the political prowess that he used to have, and Regina (surprising nobody) had jumped at the chance to have a minor appearance on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, suitably plummeting their joint reputation. More importantly, however, was that they no longer had custody of Inés Woods. She was now Elena's. Fully.

Her parents had promised to make the court proceedings as brutal as possible, but when half of the world's population vanished into thin air, there wasn't much that Lonnie and Regina could do to hurt Elena any further. They had been turned to a pile of dust, after all. Elena and Inés had been spared this fate, and despite the world dealing with a million tragedies thanks to Thanos and the Avengers, Elena couldn't help but feel a tiny bit grateful. She was in New York City in a beautiful new Carnegie Hill apartment with her daughter. And her boyfriend. That was a bonus too.

Matt Murdock and Elena Woods had made good on their word. They had decided to see where their feelings led them, and their feelings had led them to a solid relationship. They still bickered, of course they did, but they loved each other too. Unconditionally. There were many things to deal with during those five years which would eventually become known as "the Blip", but Elena and Matt used this time to build up hope.

Nelson, Murdock and Page was still going strong, their "broke law firm" gaining quite the reputation. Elena, perhaps inspired by Matthew's good deeds (although she'd never admit it to him), quit the DA's office. There was no bad blood, but she just believed that she was onto bigger and brighter things. The Blip had caused so much tragedy and Elena knew that prosecuting the surging number of criminals wasn't going to be the best use of her time. She knew that she was lucky for being in the position she was in amongst so much unexpected hardship. So she used her luck and privilege and put it towards helping those who needed it the most.

Almost overnight, the Elena Cardenas Foundation was formed with the intention to help the city's most vulnerable and at-risk women. And Elena didn't just stop there. Once the foundation was established enough, she drew upon her contacts from Harvard Law School and started her own firm. Stambouli, Jeong and Woods, formed from two of Elena's old classmates at Harvard, was certainly New York's best pro bono firm, no matter how much Matt Murdock fought her on this.
