Hansi stood at the corner of the staircase, her arms crossed and her face twisted in pure annoyance. She was bored of walking around campus, so she stopped to complain to her friend Sreya for the tenth time that day.
"Why do we have to wear this ugly-ass curriculum shirt while our juniors get the nice patterned ones? Hiyaa... so unfair." Hansi groaned loudly, tugging at her faded sleeve.
Sreya burst into laughter and patted her shoulder.
"Come on, it's just our fate. How sad, no?"
Hansi pouted dramatically, then shoved her old classic earphones into her ears - not even playing music, just using them to block out her bad mood.
"Let's go to the bus stop," Sreya suggested. "Maybe fresh air will fix your drama."
The two walked toward the bus stop, but halfway there, Hansi suddenly slowed down. Her eyes locked onto something-or someone-unusual.
A girl.
With a massive bun on her head.
Hansi's POV
What on earth am I seeing right now? Is that a head or a coconut? How is such a tiny girl carrying such a big bun? Wah... fascinating. Maybe I should go look closer at this stupid hairstyle.
Without warning, she grabbed Sreya's wrist and dragged her faster.
"Eh-what?!" Sreya yelped. "Why are you sprinting suddenly?!"
Hansi ignored her and marched straight to the bus stop. The moment she got close, she finally saw the girl's face.
And she froze.
The bun girl was... cute.
Very cute.
Her big eyes, soft jawline, long lashes-everything made Hansi pause for a moment longer than she expected.
Hansi's brain: Okay okay okay... how do I talk to her ah?
Her mouth: "Hello."
Jiraya flinched, startled. She slowly looked up, only to see the tall, confident senior standing right in front of her. Her heart jumped.
"A-ah... h-hello..." she replied shyly.
"You look cute, actually." Hansi smiled, shamelessly straightforward. "What's your name?"
Jiraya blinked, confused at the sudden compliment, but her manners saved her.
"Th-Thank you... my name is Jiraya."
"Oh! Jiraya. Cute name also," Hansi said, grinning wider.
Before Jiraya could say anything else, a car honked gently. She glanced back.
"Um... my father is here to pick me up. Thank you for talking, senior. Bye."
As she tried to step away, Hansi lightly caught her wrist-not forcefully, just enough to stop her for a second.
"Don't say bye," Hansi said with a small laugh. "Say 'see ya'. Or at least 'see you later'."
"Eh... see ya?" Jiraya repeated, confused.
"Yes! Who knows... maybe God has plans for us to meet again."
Hansi winked playfully. "Go home safely."
Jiraya slipped inside the car, still puzzled, still blushing, still processing.
The car drove away.
Sreya crossed her arms.
"Did you just flirt? Or was that casual?"
Hansi chuckled and walked back into campus with a bounce in her step-like a puppy who just discovered a new toy.
"Aiyo... maybe both," she said, smiling to herself... The next day...
