They meet again under a chandelier worth more than their past.
Crystal light spills across polished marble, across suits and silk and careful smiles. The room is filled with powerful men who decide markets with a nod and women who carry empires in their eyes. Cameras wait outside. Contracts rest inside leather folders.
This reunion is not called love.
It is called Business.
Choi Soobin stands beside his father, tailored black, posture immaculate, face carved from distance. The second son. The adored one. The expendable one when duty demands a sacrifice.
Two years have passed since university ended. Two years since a girl disappeared without goodbye. Two years since he learned how to burn memories without leaving ash on his hands.
And then.....
She walks in.
Park Sohee.
Not the girl from late night study sessions and shared earphones on empty campus steps. Not the girl who laughed into her sleeve and drank coffee too sweet.
This Sohee is a superstar, camera-trained, flawless and untouchable. Diamonds at her throat. Scandal proof smile in place. Her father at her side. Her brother's shadow behind her.
The room shifts.
Soobin's breath forgets how to move.
Just for a second.... the masks crack.
Recognition is brutal.
Familiar and Unforgiving.
Their eyes meet across the distance they thought they'd buried.
And just like that, the years fold in on themselves.
Late evenings bleed into boardroom silence. Soft laughter collapses under political ambition. The unsent confessions stir like ghosts between them. Everything they never said presses against their ribs, demanding space where none is allowed.
Sohee bows first.
Perfect, polite and professional.
Soobin mirrors it.
Cold, controlled and formal.
Strangers again.
No one in the room knows that once, he memorized the way her hands trembled when she was anxious. No one knows she used to fall asleep to his heartbeat through shared headphones. No one knows that the future being negotiated in this room once belonged to their youth.
"This marriage.." Sohee's father says smoothly, "..will be beneficial for both families."
Marriage.
The word lands like a verdict.
Soobin blinks. Sohee does not.
This is not a reunion written by fate.
This is a return drafted in ink and signatures.
And as they take their seats at opposite ends of the table, with contracts between them and memories clawing at their backs, one truth settles quietly into the room:
They are not starting a love story.
They are continuing what they never got to finish.
Right where they left off.
