part 1

We've been walking for 8 hours in the snowy mountains and I actually feel like I'm the only tired one.

I don't even know half of the team except Kai since he's my best friend but I am starting to think he's a bot or something he hasn't talked a bit so as the good friend I am of course I have to break the silence

"Kai" I whisper
"what do you want kenji"
"why haven't you talked for 8 freaking hours" he sighs and I actually think he'll punch me
"we are getting dragged into war and I am supposed to be happy" he shouts and I suddenly snap back to reality which makes the crybaby inside me want to break free
"okay.. yeah sorry.."
"Kenj I didn't mean it like that" he takes a quick stop to hug me and I actually hear laughing from behind and there is a person almost at their knees dying of laughter with their friend i assume.
Goddamn they are short.
"Who the fuck is laughing" Kai asks while turning to face the person
"I'm sorry I'm sorry" the girl wheezes out while laughing
"It's not even funny" I say
"Well sorry seeing two gay people Makeout while getting drafted to war wasn't on my bucket list, thank you very much."
"WERE NOT GAY" me and Kai shout
"Yeah yeah let's continue the team left" the moment we start walking she trips on a rock and falls face down on the snow. Now who's laughing, ME.
"Idiots" she mutters under her breath and I just continue laughing

1 hour later

After and hour of walking we reach a somewhat flat space and we start putting our tents up hoping we don't get bombed when I hear crying. Now for the record I am NOT a bed person so go to check and it's the girl from before who I still don't know her name on the cold snow crying
"Why are you crying?" I asks trying to hide any emotion
"Layla is dead" she whispers and I am trying to find who Layla is but before I ask it's like she knows what I am about to ask
"Layla is the girl I was talking with. You know? My friend?" And reality hits me hard, how did she die we were walking on the same path
"How?" Is all I can say
" while we were walking she fell down but no one heard and I just learnt that" all I can do is sit next to her on the cold snow and pull her into my arm
"Tell me something to get your mind of. Like tell me where you are from, your favorite color, how old are you and your name simple questions" she takes a deep ragged breath
"I am from Greece, my favorite color is... yellow, my name is Sophia and I am 19. How about you?"
"Well first of I am from Japan but most of my life raised in England my favorite color..." I haven't thought about that question so I start frantically looking for something beautiful to steal the color like the idiot I am my eyes suddenly land on her dark blue irises and my opinion is decided
"Dark blue" I say
"My name is kenji and I am 21 years old"
"Damn you are old" she laughs
"I am not you are just a child" and her whole attitude changes. To be honest of course it would she is a child in freaking WAR. Thankfully she got distracted from her friend so I start leaving to find Kai and help him with the tent when Sophia speaks
"Could you maybe help me with the tent a bit?" She has those puppy eyes that you can't say no to
"Of course" I walk over to her and start helping
