Anna's POV
"Cam, are mom and dad gonna be ok?" I ask my brother, looking up at him in tears.
"I don't know... the crash was bad.." Cam said looking down.
I had never seen my brother looking so weak and defeated. He was always so strong and never let anyone see him cry, but now he's sobbing.
Our parents were just involved in a three-vehicle crash. They were sandwiched in between to semi-trucks. They are lucky to be alive and breathing.. with the help of machines. They are basically lifeless. Cam and I have been in the ER waiting room for four hours. The
tears never stopped.
"Mr. Dallas? Can I have a word with you, alone?" The doctor asked, coming out from behind a hallway.
"Stay here An, I'll be right back." Cam said, patting my shoulder assuringly.
This is the end. I know it. What else would they need to talk about with him in private. My parents didn't make it. This is my worst nightmare. But maybe they did make it. Maybe they just needed information of my parents insurance or something. But why would Cam need to go alone? Ugh. This is all so confusing. Why? Why did it have to happen to my parents? This isn't right.
I looked up to see my brother walking up to me, even more tears falling. I just stood up and hugged him, crying into his chest. Nothing could bring them back. I will never hear my mother's assuring words again, or go to football games with my dad. My kids will never meet them, they died to early. But I know God has a plan in store. He always does.
"Let's go home, okay?" Cam asks.
I just nod and walk out the door behind him and to his Jeep. The Jeep my parents surprised him with after he graduated high school. They were such good people who loved their kids more than themselves. I just wish I would've been able to say goodbye.
We pulled into the driveway of the big house we grew up in, in Chino Hills. Cameron unlocked the door to our dog, Jake, greeting us. That dog had no clue.
I just ran up to my room locking my door behind me. I ran into my bathroom, opened my drawer, and pulled out a box. That box had all my razors in it. Cam knew I used to cut, but I've been clean for 2 and a half years, so he won't suspect anything.
I put the sharp blade to my wrist and sliced into my skin. It had been so long. It felt so good.
After making 20 good cuts along my wrist and forearm, I clean the razor and bandage my arm and put everything the way it was before. To cover the bandages, I went to my closet and pulled out the biggest sweat shirt I could find.
I then lay in my bed and cry myself to sleep for the night.
